i doubt people would be scared if we added it, but this would go really well with some threats made by someone who just got told to stop advertising

Why would a Scratcher need to post a skull emoji on a friendly conversation?

In internet culture, the skull emoji usually used to react to something which is astonishingly terrible, or to metamorphically state “I'm dead” at something. I struggle then to believe how the skull emoji is inherently disrespectful.

Astonishingly terrible, eh? So it's used to bully? Hmmm…

Usually in text it means “bruh” more than anything else. (more joking tone though).

The only reason anyone would use this is for “lol this guy's project is cringe ☠”.

Just combine that with Scratch's young community and what the typical project is, and this whole thing crumbles in on itself.
more like combine scratch's extremely sensitive snowflake community with a childish insult that can be ignored

So what? Ignore “omg frick you” and do nothing?
how is “frick” related? no one can drop * bombs because its censored, and yes you could just ignore them bud ☠️

This is basically like refusing to take action over all sorts of stuff because “it could be ignored”, listen buddy simply ignoring is not going to fix every problem.
it is, believe it or not, maybe if people stopped being sensitive moonbats we wouldn't need censorship

sorry if i sound like a grumpy old parent here, this has really started to annoy me.

B R U H. Why. Why do we need this? Yes, it's a meme; yes, it's funny. But you know what? IT'S COMPLETELY UNNECESSARY. The meme will be dead and gone in a couple years, and people can just use words to express how they're feeling. And you know what? All those other features that everyone's suggesting - all the interesting ones like dark theme and stretch effects and turn-based collaboration - Scratch is never gonna get around to adding those if all their time is taken up by adding UNNECESSARY EMOJIS. We don't need a skull. A skull does not improve our programming experience on Scratch in any way. So please, stop this. We don't need it.

I am extremely sorry if I offended anyone in any way with this post! I just needed to get it out of my system. /gen

I actually agree with your points there. Do we need to say “I forgor :skull:”? No.

We can just say “I forgor ☠️”.

we dont need any of these

but we have them.

a skull emoji isn't that hard to implement compared to other things.

and the ST is basically a dead meme. they literally featured a rickroll video the other day. they feast on dead memes.

*inhales deeply*

https://en.scratch-wiki.info/wiki/Scratch_Emojis

The _pride_ and _blm_ emojis are used to show that Scratch supports worldwide rights issues. The _candycorn_ emoji was created as a tribute to a ST member and the _10mil_ (confetti) emoji was made to celebrate 10 million users joining Scratch. The food and travel emojis were created as April Fools' jokes, where Scratch is typically lighthearted and shares unnecessary features. The rest are social interactions - i don't know where they came from, but they were probably included right at the start.

But the fact that those emojis exist doesn't affect my point! They already exist and there's nothing we can do about it. My point is that the ST doesn't need to waste time making even more just because of some random meme - Scratch wants other, more important things. And although it is easier to implement, doesn't that mean the ST should be spending more time on the harder-to-implement things as opposed to these easier, smaller things because they need more time to get them done?

And as for that rickroll project, someone actually worked hard on that. They're not ‘feasting on dead memes’, they're just featuring a project that someone spent time on.

Me after this suggestion is added (If it happens): Random 2 year old is (possibly) getting mental issues now.

Oh and Skull = death (close enough)
Concept of Death + 2 year old = Nope
Concept of Death + 2 year old + Scratch = No support to this suggestion. Just explained why.

How dare you call rickroll a dead meme. Some memes never die.

Though, TOWD does have a point. A skull emoji does make more since than some other emojis we have. Plus, I can see it being used a good amount, and adding some fun to the convo. (bruh I had a whole, big, paragraph ready but I forgor the rest)

so should we ban things such as educational projects that have skulls to teach you about the human body? what about pirate games? honestly, skulls are used VERY often in children's media that I don't think it will emotionally scar a child and if it does, then that child is probably way too young to be using the internet.

Are there any more points to be made?

Edit:
Arguments by people who are indecisive: Scary for children?

Funny how you don't want this emoji because it supposedly represents death but your own profile picture talks about death.

I don't understand how a skull is supposed to scar a child for life. If it does, then shouldn't Halloween decorations be discouraged by now due to people getting sued for their children getting mental issues?

nah bro stop exaggerating it ain't that bad
