Allow banned users to look at their profile and messages

Can the ban message be viewed on a certain page (not unlike the 404 and 403 pages)?
As I said, it redirects to the banned page, more specifically https://scratch.mit.edu/accounts/banned-response/. It redirects to the homepage if you are not banned, and if you are banned, every page redirects to it.
Oh, ok thanks

I don't support, if there banned they are banned…. they shouldn't be on scratch, I beleive the scratch team is very detailed and accurate with the bans and ETC. and if they got banned and think it's a mistake they can always file the support ticket thingumabob

When you are banned, that means you've done something so bad that the Scratch Team doesn't want you on their website.

Not exactly. That's the case with permanent bans, but this topic isn't about permanent bans. Temporary bans are meant to be punishments, not as a way of the website saying “Get off this site until you've learned your lesson”
First of all, if its a temporary ban, this feature isn't needed.

Allow banned users to look at their profile and messages

When an account is banned, you can only see three pages:
The banned page, the community guidelines, and Contact Us
Huh, only these pages? What about the Terms of Use page, or account settings? If not, I think they should at least be able to see those as well.

No support for seeing their profile, but semi-support for looking at their messages. I think all the links should still be working, and as they redirect to the banned page, they won't know, like what forum/studio activity, and if a comment is only partially shown in messages they won't be able to see the whole thing (sure to make someone mad..) Or maybe instead of that they won't be able to see their messages, but they could see their message count (does it already show that on the allowed pages?) I also wonder if it marks the messages as read when you try to go to the message page, even though it redirects to the banned page, or if they stay unread.. (I think they should stay unread, because marking them as read in this way would be unfair. And how would anyone know at first glance they're missing messages?)

All that aside, I do think letting them turn off their profile comments is a good idea. I'm thinking that instead of allowing them to see their profile there would be little toggle option on the banned page that would let you turn on/off profile comments..

I got banned once and you can't see the terms of use and account settings

Any part of Scratch should be restricted when you are banned, because you aren't supposed to be using Scratch when you are banned.

So, I don't think Scratch should ease up the rules on banning to make it unlike a punishment.

Irrelevant, soz…

Just log out. That should probably be restricted too.

I know this isn't really relevant, but I recently learned about a user who is apparently banned from ODing on Scratch. So, I'm wondering, if a person is banned, is it still possible for other's to see their profile? From what I know, it isn't, but I'd rather learn more about it and then comment instead of commenting before knowing.

It's better to make a new topic when you have a question to keep the forums organized. This will also make more people see it.

The profile usually remains visible but sometimes the Scratch Team deletes the account (for example if the username is inappropriate).

I agree there was a user that got banned and alot of other users who were associated with him complained of not being able to see his profile.

Read the OP again. This topic is suggesting for a banned user to be able to see their profile and messages and not for other users to see a banned user’s profile if their profile is unaccessible.

Being able to see messages but not be able to respond for being banned would only tempt users to want to ban evade right mates? And you can't do that until ban ends so…no support
