ooh yeah, that could be a problem now that you brought that up, maybe make it a option then? (or a elipsey warning, but that is probably a worse solution than making it togglable)

“Making it optional” is not a good solution. It simply sweeps all issues under the rug and destroys any discussion.
Plus, this would be incredibly taxing on the web browser to apply all of those effects on the entire screen. It probably wouldn't even work due to how Scratch is programmed, and I doubt rewriting the entirety of Scratch for a simple joke is not of the developer's priority.

Well I mean, scratch already did make optional april fools joke ideas, and they already had something like this before (all the world's a stage I think) so I don't think this is a big issue.

I'm not an actual programmer, but I don't see how applying a visual effect could cost that much money, or really any at all.

I'm not an actual programmer, but I don't see how applying a visual effect could cost that much money, or really any at all.

The underlying code between the editor and the code that runs the projects are completely different and serve separate functions. The editor simply wasn't designed to have effects.

Since Scratch projects use WebGL, they could create a hidden canvas with WebGL and somehow export the editor's current image showing on the screen onto the canvas with WebGL, then re-export from the canvas onto the main editor
