Is it possible to get banned after breaking a guideline once for inappropriate language

So, an IRL friend of mine (not revealing names/@s) said something with inappropriate language, which i reported, and i got taken down, but after it did, they went inactive. this SHOULDN'T worry me, but it is because idk if you can get banned for ONE slipup. So, is it possible in cases such as these?

Thanks in advance.

(PLEASE don't call me stupid.)

Anyways hi, I'm SK

I've been on this site since I was 10 years old. I am currently 15

I have a major addiction to sweet tea and draw a crap ton of stuff in my free time (not all of which is scratch appropriate). I post whatever I want to on the main site and mostly manage the collaborations directory and answer questions in QaS on the forums

I have over 2000 posts lol, a huge chunk of them being from when I was 11-12 during the height of COVID

If by any chance the post you''re reading is from early 2021 or before, please forget that post exists since it is cringey

I believe you would typically receive an alert first, and then get banned if you kept repeating it. There are exceptions if you posted something illegal, posted something extremely inappropriate, or were an obvious troll account.

I think they would get a message first, but it is possible they got banned, yes.

I doubt they would be banned after 1 infraction, they likely just got a warning (or mute? not sure how those get handed out). They could have been banned though, it depends on how serious it was.

I think, therefore I am.

Keep in mind that there is a possibility that they had done it before, so they could've received a warning, ignored it, and then repeated the action.

If it's a “slip up,” as if they simply misunderstood the Community Guidelines, they probably would not be banned. (This assumes they have not gotten any alerts before.) But if it seems like the inappropriate language was said out of malicious intent, as if they knew that what they said would be inappropriate for Scratch, the punishment could be stricter.

Simply put, the answer to your question is “yes, it is possible,” but there are many factors at play here and so it's not quite possible to tell what happened to your friend. Simply becoming inactive is certainly still a possibility.

I doubt you would get instantly banned, but you might.
