Why does my imported art look different?

Whenever I import art into Scratch, it makes it look more pixelated and the colors become duller/faded. Is there any way to prevent this?

What resolution is the art that you're importing at? Scratch has a resolution of 480x360, so you should either set your resolution to that or a multiple of it.

You can also try converting a PNG file into SVG so Scratch doesn't mess it up so bad: https://www.aconvert.com/image/png-to-svg/

Thanks for the tips! Part of the problem is that Scratch automatically converts the file to Bitmap, even when I've set it to Vector. Is there any way to prevent this?

All bitmap formats (PNG, JPEG, BMP …) will be imported as bitmap costumes, which have a limited resolution. You can convert the file to SVG before importing it to prevent that.

I tried converting it to a SVG, but the picture got extremely magnified and it refused to let me change the size or even the position.

What type of program were you using the convert the image to an SVG file? Inkscape? CorelDraw? Something else?
