Well plushies would still be cool tho, and I believe people would want em.

Also, the ST can get scratchers to make the book instead! and then simply check if for innpropriate stuff. It would be a cool big ol group project!

Cuz i had the idea of a bundle of scratch items including the plushie (because I thought it would let parents want to buy it since it both supports scratch and gives their kids learning resources) lol

Can't see myself supporting this - it gives rise to too many potential issues in my opinion, as listed below

1. Manufacturing
Considering the limited customer base, manufacturing could be expensive as Scratch wouldn't be able to order in mass, likely not expecting to make money. There'd also be the process of finding a manufacturer, etc
2. Customer base
I don't see very high demand for it. I understand some people say their want it - but - I doubt there would be large demand. Scratch could expect some orders, however, I don't see it being enough to actually justify the means of finding designers, legal processes, creation etc.
3. Potential ethical concerns
Whilst this is limited, Scratch generally, in the past, has attempted to be a relatively ethical corporation. Producing and selling a product, especially with the moral expectations of a company (ie, how would Scratch react to political events etc). I also see the potential of the manufacturing process to be critical… especially considering the questionable standards in many cheaper factories.
4. Costs!
I don't think the costs justify the product. Design, upkeep, putting up a website, selling it could require a lot of work and costs. Considering the limited customer base, I don't think Scratch could guarantee this money back, which would take away money from the running of Scratch and its goals. Tying into this, it could end up wasting the valuable time of Scratch's team and staff.

I understand the want to have these - the design in the first post is nice and I admire such crafts. However, the potential issues far outweigh the possibilities and use. It's unfortunate but we must consider these downsides, even with high support. Maybe, there'd be a way for the ST to see in advance how many people would actually order it (maybe via a funding website?)?

Depends on what the ST thinks, since scratch is non-profit, scratch cat could be under the common license thingie (I forgot name), which allows people for commercial use under some specific cercumstances, also, why would people sell it anyways? it would still be illegal without the instructioins
