I'm working on a YouTube video for Scratch Week and want some useless facts about Scratch. Your name will be on screen if I use your fact.

In an older version of the scratchblocks plugin used on the forums, there was a mistake where it detected “stop all pinks” as a sound block instead of “stop all sounds”, so “stop all sounds” showed up in red like a block with an unknown category while “stop all pinks” showed up in pink like a regular sound block.

The founder of Scratch, Mitchel Resnick (@mres) was inspired to name his website “Scratch” because of technique used by disk jockeys called “scratching”, where vinyl records are clipped together and manipulated on a turntable to produce different sound effects and music.

The 1.X versions of Scratch have things like a video player, a notepad, and a port of Tetris accessible through the Shift-Click-R debugging features.

China's government banned Scratch because of one video.
Also, about ten years ago, Bandai Namco (the company that made Pac-Man) forced the Scratch Team to take down a kid's Pac-Man project.
Finally, Scratch has often collaborated with Cartoon Network. The channel actually has an official account on Scratch.

When loading a project, there are things other than “Loading Sprites” or “Loading Extensions”
An example is “Transmitting Nanos”

1. There was a small period of time when you could backpack scratchblocks from the forums.
2. Gobo might have been the mascot for Scratch.
3. backpack.scratch.mit.edu, projects.scratch.mit.edu, downloads.scratch.mit.edu and download.scratch.mit.edu contain some stuff.
4. Scratch has some code for an unused “disable studio notifications” button.

Although most people on the forums probably know this, it is a running joke to change every wiki page to an April Fool’s version on April fools; for example, the ‘Sprite’ page will talk about the drink.

The ‘collapse’ feature on the forums page is supposed to save a cookie to your computer, but they didn't add the code to do that.
