I think studio invites should go the other way.

I think the way to fix this would be to switch it around. Instead, the user who wants to join sees the studio, and clicks the join studio button. It will then tell them that a request to join was sent. Now once a manager or owner accepts the request, the user becomes a curator of the studio.

There's already a solution to the problem. You can ask to join the studio in the studio comments, and if the studio comments are turned off, you could ask someone on their profile. Therefore, that solves the ‘mass requesting’ problem. Studio activity would be a thing, it can notify once someone requested.

I don't completely support, we've all been annoyed by studio invites, but sometimes people make a studio for important things.

There's a small difference, with the suggestion applied, once a manager accepted a request, the requester would immediately be added to the studio. It's not very different though.

No support. I mean really, how many invites do you get per day? Two? If you unfollow said people that invite, this problem is usually solved.
Do you think somebody like griffgum gets 2 invites per day? I don't see why we shouldn't have both options, the ability to get invited and request to get invited.
But then really, what would be the point?

Support, but also keep the old method and let studios choose which method they would like to use.
1. The old invites system
2. The new requests system
3. Invites and Requests (default option)

I’d say it’d be easier if both are an option.

support for this

that way the owner would actually be able to ask people to join without spamming and people who wanted to join wouldn't have to spam the comment section to ask.

+1

It's good if you see a studio you like but aren't friends with anybody on it.

And combine these with a feature to switch off the ability to be invited by others to participate in a studio, you would join a studio in a different way depending on what the studio chose and what you chose.

I think studio invites should go the other way.

Support, only with the following:

1. This is a toggle found in every studio that is set to “By invite” by default.

There would be two options, “By invite” and “By request”. This way, users who prefer the current system can still use it. This must also be “By invite” by default so that old studios don't get flooded with requests and potentially cause strain on the servers.

2. Users must provide a reason for denying a request.

If a request is denied, the user denying it must provide a reason for denying the request, and the user whose request was denied will recieve a message saying their request was denied with the reason provided. There would be an option to report this reason for being either disrespectful or the reason being blank. This would lower potential controversy that could very well occur if a request is denied.

3. Managers don't get messages every time a user sends a request.

To avoid message spam with this option, the “Invite curators” switches to “View requests” and managers can accept or deny these.

This kind of defeats the purpose of my original consideration about the current system, advertising with original invites, but now I'm actually thinking that this is a good idea.

To avoid private messaging, this could maybe also post a comment on the user's profile or the studio or something. They could also just ignore the request.
3. Managers don't get messages every time a user sends a request.

To avoid message spam with this option, the “Invite curators” switches to “View requests” and managers can accept or deny these.
I actually wasn't intending for it to send them messages for each request anyway, it could maybe tell you how many users want to join though.

maybe
Studio join system
invites (?) You have to invite people into the studio and they can accept/decline
requests (?) People request to go into your studio and they can accept/decline
both (?) You can either invite or request [default]

and only the host can change it.

I don't think there should be a way to turn off studio invites for the studio. (Requests should be optional, though.) It would be a better idea, in my opinion, to have the option to turn off studio invites for their account, with the invite system intact, and requests up to the studio.

This would not only give the studio host more control, but it would help prevent spammers from inviting everyone to their studios.
