Youtube links on scratch!

are you suggesting to redirect users who click on a youtube link in comments to go to http://scratch.mit.edu/discuss/youtube/video-id-here ? that would be a great idea
+1 for Youtube videos like that.

But I still don't think it's necessary for other things on Youtube (profiles, searches, comments, etc.)

<sigh> so what if videos are not what scratch are about? someone might want to show their friend their youtube channel or something.
Go to youtube then. It's that simple.

Youtube links on scratch!

and don't tell me “what if it has something inappropriate in it” , because you could just ignore it and pretend you never saw it.

That could be true for any inappropriate content. This is not a valid argument. A 5-year-old who sees nudity, or something gory, can pretend he never saw it, but he will have. That is the problem.

No support. Youtube is a moral wasteland.

At least for about the 5 seconds I've been on it, that's what I've gathered!
lol not liking youtube is like…..0.0 what you said is not true…

Well I don't like Youtube. xP

Problems with it: 1. no swear filter. 2. not moderated. 3. inappropriate videos. 4. if you visit it, it wrecks your google ads by changing your likes to about 10x the number of things you usually have, leading to inappropriate ads on other sites.

Conclusion: Youtube is terrible. That's just my opinion though.

What's not my opinion is that it's not appropriate for young kids, the market of Scratch. Also, only allowing links to Scratch projects is much, much safer. I don't want somebody finding ways to give me a virus from Scratch by going to Youtube…
1. it doesn't make you have 10x more ads…
2. if a video looks inappropriate don't click on it…

Actually it does, example: I visited one Youtube video once that my mom found… after that, my google ads preferences went from 9 likes to about 17. (and next to all of the unrelated ones said “Youtube”.) That's quite spammy!
How am I supposed to tell “k328fh83hr-3i8rh8s” from “093hf8ehu3hiw8y3h”?

Sorry - that's not going to happen because of the high probability of inappropriate content.
