According to you, FNAF is rated 12+. Many, many users are younger than 12 years old. Besides, FNAF has been shown to scare people of all ages, even fully grown adults. Scratch is for people of all ages, meaning that they can be exposed to these horror games. It's hardly appropriate for young users who may get nightmares and scary from playing those games. FNAF also has a very gory and mature backstory which is definitely not appreciated on this site.

However, FNAF is allowed without jumpscares, but due to the amount of borderline FNAF projects there are, they are marked NFE (Not For Everyone). That means that it doesn't show up in the search bar or the front page.

If you want more information, you can read this section of a scratch wiki article.

I remember I once wrote:

The Scratch Team […] automatically place(s) (FNAF/Five Nights at Freddy's) projects as NFE (Not For Everyone).
[…] Scratch Team member @speakvisually made an announcement on Five Nights at Freddy's projects here: https://scratch.mit.edu/discuss/topic/168506/?page=1#post-1606792
[…] the Scratch Team aren't going to change their opinions on FNaF projects.

Most users in scratch are older than 7. Scratch Jr. is geared towards a more younger audience. Also, no, the ST won't be changing any rules on FNAF projects. Also wrong forum

Why does FNAF get blocked anyway. The person who looks it up has the power to watch the projects. Its their fault they want to learn how to make horror games. Scratch isnt a place to learn how to make scary video games. Fnaf isnt allowed. Every since the war of '17. Many scratchers fought to keep Fazbear Enterprises on scratch but now it is banned. All the fnaf scratchers in hiding. Only few survived. FNAF is not allowed because it scares children. If it scares a 1st grader, then it can scare anyone. (also back then when fnaf was unbanned, there was too much animatronics on trending, now it is replaced by the evil generic platformers who are way more scarier than freddy)

You mean Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria?
FNAF's not allowed, because:

That second part doesn't count because read the highlighted part, especially the number in bold.

I don't know how Scratch team want to ban FNAF, FNAF has been a large percent of the community in Scratch, many people like me got into Scratch because we want to recreate cool and popular video games. (And yes, I played FNAF and got into Scratch before 12).

Scratch completely lost its purpose. It was built for “'learning coding' for all ages”, not going to the cinema and be restricted to watch a R rated horror film.

Some might say that Scratch is for ‘all ages’ so that includes children below 12. And you are completely right. But if it was for all ages, then you would also include Scratchers above 12 years old. I think that if Scratchers got themselves clicking into a project, whether they like it or not, they have to be responsible for what they did.

Not just FNAF, many popular video games also applies to what I said. The point is not to ‘restrict what you see’, it is to learn ‘what you see’ (by definition here means coding).

Even that Scratch have to protect the kids, There are certainly other ways to do this (Parental Controls and etc..).

I've already moved on from Scratch for a while, it still frustrates me to see how the Scratch team was still the same 6-7 years ago.

Still appreciate what Scratch have brought me to what I do today, but as a former part of the community, I hope the Scratch team can find a better solution to this.

All ages includes 6-year-olds as well. Little kids may not know what they would get into, and even age restrictions will ruin the point. The whole idea of Scratch is to make everything available to everyone, so adding restrictions or parental control won't really work. Also, FNAF isn't completely banned btw.

Scratch already includes Scratchers above 12 years old. Any project which is appropriate for an 8-year-old is also appropriate for a 12-year-old. The Scratch Team has no obligation to allow projects that are only appropriate for ages 12+, because such projects are not appropriate for all ages.

It's not the Scratcher's fault if they click on a project and they don't understand how scary it is, e.g. if they've never heard of FNAF before. It's extremely easy to disguise scary things in a Scratch project. If a project appears to be friendly but actually contains jumpscares, it's not the user's fault for clicking on that project.
