Don't ban fun!
So recently ST made a post indicating that April Fool's topics are no longer allowed because “a lots of users were denied help because the forums got flooded”, but I think forumers should be allowed to have some fun on April fool's day as long as we are not spamming, we forumers worked like free customer support to ST and we all waited for this day to have some fun, only for ST to go like “Nope, no fun allowed!”.

Here's the post:
Don't do it. We don't want a repeat of last year where a lot of users were denied help because the forums got flooded and mods spent a lot of time cleaning up instead of other reports. You're better off making an April Fools project instead of a joke forum topic.Joke topics should be allowed, but keep in mind, this isn't an official rule (yet). But this has been a Scratch tradition for over a decade, one that Scratch Team members themselves have taken part in.

Oh by the way here’s the post link
The forums easily get clogged up with joke posts on April Fool’s Day, so I can see why they would not want any more joke topics. If someone actually had an issue or a question on that day, it would most likely not get answered, and that is a problem for many reasons.

We forumers worked like free customer support to STI wouldn’t say I agree with that. It’s our choice to forum and we aren’t really working for Scratch or anything, just trying to help out. Personally, I forum to help people and to practice my formal writing skills.

Yeah, but there's also a lot of activity on the website right now, so that might be making it even harder to clean it up.
Secondly, 5.3 on the TOU says, "You agree not to use Scratch in any way intended to […] interfere with any other user's ability to use the service." Ideally, that includes the moderators.
Thirdly, the forums can become a LOT more cluttered than the main site from joke forum topics.

As fun as it is, I honestly see cheddargirl's point.
There always is people who try to actually use the forums, though their post gets burried in minutes. Not to mention that the usual reports won't be any different than any other day, this is a lot of cleanup for them.
As much of a bummer this is for us, I think we need to recognize how hard the ST does work, and how overwhelmed they probably are. I think we need to sympathize, or at least try to understand, the ST and their decisions, rather than just calling them evil dictators who hate us all when they make a decision we dislike.
Also, this may just be cheddargirl's opinion, and it may not reflect the thoughts of the entire ST.

Now, the problem there wasn't about the jokes. It was about a few people who spammed until the spam washed out every other topic, joke or not.

I know you can just report these things, but what if there were ‘joke’ topics like this:
OMG YOU GUYS WWIII IS COMING GUYS!11!1![]()

They should keep joke topics, just HEAVILY, HEAVILY, HEAVILY discourage spam, maybe to the point of having it as a banner at the top of the screen whenever you are in forums
I am very excited for April fools day this year, and 3 different joke suggestions + a joke question planned and would hate to have it called off

That's just one day per year, they aren't gonna die if they just wait another day, plus April fool's topics ≠ spamming. We aren't them and we cannot speak for them. Scratch has remained extremely active in the last couple years, and there's plenty of things they have to deal with, such as mass reporting, spam bots, the growing toxicity, and just the overall things they take care of on a day to day baises.
I mean, cheddargirl literally said "mods spent a lot of time cleaning up instead of other reports."
And yes, the April Fool's topics are spam. They're unconstructive, they hold no purpose, and they just fill up the forums.

I'd beg to disagree, ST themselves have made joke topics in the past, and I doubt they are against them, just against spamThat's just one day per year, they aren't gonna die if they just wait another day, plus April fool's topics ≠ spamming. We aren't them and we cannot speak for them. April fools topics is beneficial to the community because the community would learn that ST and the forumers are relatable people like them and not just some boring people without a sense of humour that are always formal, this could help to ease the tensions between ST and the community (there are some hostilities against ST in some parts of the community) and could make the community more favourable of ST.That's just one day per year, they aren't gonna die if they just wait another day, plus April fool's topics ≠ spamming. We aren't them and we cannot speak for them. The reality is there is a very fine line between the two; how can they prevent the jokes from turning to spam? There is no way other than delete the spam, which is just that extra work for them, so, wouldn't it be logical to discourage what leads to the spam?I'd beg to disagree, ST themselves have made joke topics in the past, and I doubt they are against them, just against spamThat's just one day per year, they aren't gonna die if they just wait another day, plus April fool's topics ≠ spamming. We aren't them and we cannot speak for them. I don't believe you understand what spam is, spam isnt clutter, spam isn't useless topics, spam is posting tons of clutter and useless topics very fast, without stopThe reality is there is a very fine line between the two; how can they prevent the jokes from turning to spam? Having useless topics on a day dedicated to trickery should be fine, as long as people aren't spamming like last year

Normally such topics are allowed on April Fools, so no. That's not excusable on any other day, though. And yes, the April Fool's topics are spam. Based on what I've seen, this is acceptable:
1i w0u1d tu4n u4 t3><t int0 l33t lik3 th15And this isn't:
uo3489y5fti54y8tuiio5fni5ti85h4ti8ne54iur5i4utrhkiu45hti74y5ehiywure58yi5jyv89we5yrtufevrfiuvwigutuwu8estyiuertyiuerytiuweyoseuThe first one tries to sound like a suggestion (albeit a silly one) and the second is pure spam.
