Official Monster World strategy and balance thread
True. The thing is, I like IC better for a single reason. Feed. That’s literally the only reason I like IC better. And maybe because trainigndummy sucksIn terms of character: its obviously watcher - clad = silent = defect, watcher is just built different, I have played a lot of IC, Silent, and Defect and still having an A20 winrate around 10%, but for watcher, I am pretty much winning like at least 30% of the A20 runs, same as twitch streamers, Merl61 has a watcher winrate of 97%, while most streamers' character winrates are like 80% something, since watcher is just broken, so many infinites, has insane damage in act 1 and just breeze through all enemies and elites, and pseudo infinite in act 2 and infinite in act 3Personally, my tier list is ironclad-watcher-silent-defect Also I'm thinking of doing STS tier lists for all 4 characters, maybe need some help and feedback from you guys.
I’m more of the upfront damage type of guy than things like orbs and poison
Ironclad is the best because you can outdamage nearly anything in act1 (and then heal the damage), burst down the slime, out lock the guardian and hex ghost. For act two, he can damage more than the enemies block and still be able to block, burst down the champ, kill the automation fairly quickly, although he might have trouble with the collector, and for act 3, he might have a bit more trouble, but he can usually outheal them. He might have trouble with the act 3 bosses but at least he can usually make it this far. Also, he usually has enough hp to gain benefits from events like scrap ooze and cursed tome. However, his splash cards have relatively low damage so things like 3 cultists or, as mentioned above, the collector, may pose a challenge. Of course, this is all my opinion and a lot of people have different play styles.
Watcher is also very good, for some of the reasons mentioned above, and also that she can get a lot of damage in. (I’m also a bit of a math geek so I can kind of figure out when I can get lethal.) the problem for most people is that they just don’t do the math, and miss a lot of lethal, or calculate when to go into which stance wrong, which may end up costing them the run. The watcher is an interesting character, most people just don’t really bother calculating.
The silent is not great (at least for me) sure, she has a lot of defense cards, but has no reliable way to deal heavy damage. Things like poison, shivs, and most of her damaging cards are revolved around low energy cost. She plays out as a defensive character who deals small increments of damage every turn. Yeah, is works, but I don’t really like her play style, and you might get an unlucky turn, and for me, most of the time I just get outscaled. Yeah, maybe it’s a skill issue, but, well, I just don’t really like her.
The defect is definitely interesting character, but really, he’s very rng based. Enough said. Although if you get prismatic shard (as another character) reprogram, hyper beam, and plasma could be very interesting, but then again, that’s not the defect
This is all just my opinion. What do you think?

Huh, never seen them before
Do you guys know that 3 attacks are in the code, costumes, and lists but not the game? Here they are:(original)
Final Strike
Cost: 1
Effect: Deal 3 damage times the number of abilities played this turn (0 time/s)
Knockout
Cost: 0
Effect: Deal 3 damage and apply 1 Weakness
Whirling Slash
Cost:1
Effect: Deal 3 damage to ALL enemies
I asked Apfellord about it and he said this:Those were some of the first abilities I made to test the engine. In the end, I decided not to keep them in them for different reasons. But they'll be in the full version of the game for sure in some form!(source)
So yeah.

Cool. You know, final strike could be an interesting card, it could speed up the cold wave infinite a lot. Btw I think I crashed the game Lol. So yeah.
I was doing swarmers and then after I board wiped all three and one sprite stayed, just with the 11 attack hovering, then I went mystery(it was honey but that doesn’t really matter) then I went cave encounter and this happened. Is there a piece of code where it detects if hp=<zero then hide sprite but then if it does multiple at the same time it only calculates for one or two. I don’t know, I’m not that great with the code

Final strike should be 0 cost, 1 dmg initially. Then it really rewards strength scaling, and then it would actually make sense to build a deck around it. Knockout is like trip, but vulnerable is traded for 3 damage, which isn’t really good. I would rather have vulnerable than 3 damage, since the extra damage from vulnerable is going to be much more. Even a strike would make up the 3 damage. And yeah… whirling strike sucks. The only encounter where 3 damage for each enemy actually deals more damage than strike is swarmers, and you want to farm them. (Although there’s no way whirling strike would ever kill all three at the same time.) If you just use strike, you can kill individual enemies faster, which is better because then you bock less each turn. I think it should be at least 6 damage. Look at cleave, it splashes and still deals more damage than strike, AND still only costs 1 energy.

final strike is a viable side arm for trips, like finisher for silent, so just use it as a finisher, since late game it can be considered as an upgrade over shatter since for shatter you are just holding on to it as a curse until you charged full frost and strength and deal massive damage, I think making it 4 or 5 damage should be good enough, since playing skills on an attack turn really limits you damage output. Final strike should be 0 cost, 1 dmg initially. Then it really rewards strength scaling, and then it would actually make sense to build a deck around it. Knockout is like trip, but vulnerable is traded for 3 damage, which isn’t really good. I would rather have vulnerable than 3 damage, since the extra damage from vulnerable is going to be much more. knock out is just trip-, probably going to be a starter card for the second character, in that case it would be quite good.
whirl strike sucks, imagine thinking it as a viable card, even in STS, cleave (8 damage AOE), isn't a good card, its only good in STS because of 2 things: 1. Gremlin & Slimes & Reptomancer exists, 2. Whirl wind sucks, so yea, I think it 100% has to be balanced

I agree, I believe they should be 3 block each turn. Also, I was thinking that maybe to make unknowns more viable, shops and ins could be added to the pool of possibilities, and that ins could have the option to “buy food” or something and heal to full HP or something for gold to make them better.
