Wow I'm so late getting into this discussion. I'll think I'll just switch over to cubeupload. (thanks djdolphin!)

If it's going to mention completely legal drug use it's an added bonus that it says to do it responsibly- for example, not underage.
It's not appropriate for a kid's site to encourage another site where it encourages alcohol, legal or not.
So all sites relating to kid's sites should be devoid of mentions of/deny the existence of alcohol? That isn't really how the world works. G-rated films can have alcohol in them…
…So it's okay if I mention beer and wine and vodka, etc. exist, but I have to spread anti-alcoholism propaganda about them so that I'm okay?
What?
G-rated films can have alcohol.
Therefore, it's okay if I mention beer and wine and vodka, etc. exist.
But they might think I'm spreading alcoholism propaganda.
I do not want people to think that.
Therefore, I probably have to spread anti-alcoholism propaganda about the drugs if I mention them.
Alcohol is not a bad thing. Adults can and do enjoy it responsibly and legally. Most american adults drink. It's fine to mention its existence for reasons outside of it being allowed in G-rated films, that was just the simplest explanation showing that the acknowledgement of usage of alcohol isn't poisonous to children.

What is “anti-alcoholism propaganda” to you? “Drink responsibly”? Your age / poor education on drugs is showing very well

I'm 15. I know what I'm talking about. And anti-alcoholism propaganda to me is “DO NOT DO ALCOHOL. EVER”. Also, “Drink responsibly” is encouraging alcohol consumption, so it's pro-alcoholism and unacceptable.

Alcohol is not a bad thing, but showing kids ads for it is. I for one would be banned from Scratch if I was even just 10 and was saw watching a Budweiser commercial, and other parents may be the same.

Pfft… Laugh all you want. I'm educated. I'm against drugs. I know that some hockey teams might have “beer leagues”, etc. But not me. I'm against alcohol consumption.

This is not a thread about whether alcohol mentions are allowed on Scratch/kids' sites…

(and age doesn't matter in debates - older people can be wrong, and younger people can be just as wrong )

But alcohol ads are a part of tinypic, and part of this thread is about whether tinypic should be banned.

What even led to this discussion about alcohol

Just… Why

Yeah… this is straying somewhat off topic again…
@NoxSpooth - there was a pro-alcoholism ad on tinypic. We're arguing whether that's okay for a kid's site or not.

Problem is there are ads for alcohol everywhere, be it the internet or television or a billboard in real life. I think the main issue with tinypic is its potential for harboring viruses.

Except most children/young teens haven't really gotten to the point where they can form legitimate opinions about things (especially things they can't legally even take part in like drinking)

You came to a battle wearing that?

“Drinking responsibly” don't mean drink, it means don't drink so much. Where are you getting “pro-alcoholism” from? Alcoholism is a completely different thing anyways.

Pro-alcoholism - anything promoting the use of alcohol. An alcohol ad is wanting you to buy their product (alcohol), and therefore drink. It enourages you to drink alcohol. Pro-alcoholism. “Please drink responsibly” is pro-alcoholism. It's still asking you to DRINK. Anti-alcoholism is anything that says do not do this. A “Don't do alcohol!” sign would be in this category. A “Don't drink and drive” is encouraging both pro- and anti-alcoholism: drink, but don't drink when you're in the car.

Agreed, but alcohol ads aren't a part of Scratch.

^^^ Guys seriously you have to be able to handle an alcohol ad, I don't know but if you guys keep up with any other news/media/television an alcohol ad is like 0 on the scale of bad.

BTW coffee ads should be banned since coffee is a drug too. And so should medicine ads because you kids might want to chug down Ibuprofen.

True… especially if it has a phone number your kid might call.
