HIde the like/favorite counter, upon also making scratch more "mental health" friendly
OH MY GOD?!?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! no one is even agreeing with me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1But your post says that Scratch needs to be more mental-health friendly. So you just said that because you can?No. There is already no dislike or down-vote in Scratch so there is nothing negative already. The worse case scenario is that the project just doesn't get much views in the first place. And mental health friendly? Whats so anti-mental health?I don't know

To clarify, I believe the rationale behind removing loves/favorites for the sake of mental health is the following. If Scratchers compare the amount of loves/favorites that their projects have compared to the significantly-larger amount that other project creators have, they may feel overwhelmed and depressed that they don't have very many loves/favorites. By hiding the love/favorite counters, no one can compare their loves/favorites to other project creators, so that it appears as though everyone is “on the same level” as far as project popularity goes.
OP, please correct me if I'm wrong.

support, i think this is good for people who have bad habits of determining their self worth by loves and favorites. there's just a slight issue: if someone hides their love and favorite count, would it remove the project notifications from their inbox? because hiding the count won't do much for someone's mental health if the creator is still well aware of how many people did/didn't like their project by counting the notifs in their inbox.

Well then instead of outright removing them, just make a setting to hide the counter for a user. Plus good luck getting the ST to implement anything because they take forever. Suggestions from 2013 with thousands of comments still haven't been added, like exponents.

No support. How would hiding loves/stars on projects effect metal health…? Wouldn't it mean the person likes the project and thus will make the user feel better knowing how others like their project?

(not suggesting anything rejected…)

OH MY GOD?!?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! no one is even agreeing with me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1I think this feature would make Scratchers unhappy rather than happier. Most users want to see how popular their projects are.

I think Scratch should have an option that lets users show/hide the love/favorite counter. I think people that see that their likes/favorites are only to a minimum can affect their mental health, not to mention that this would cause too much stress to some scratchers who want to get as many as they can. I know this because recently, Youtube announced that they would publically hide the dislike counter, which I think is a good idea. I think it should be the same thing, for everybody, on scratch. Also, I think this will help prevent those races where people would need to accomplish 50000 likes by some point, but they would not get it. It's okay to disagree with me, but tell me a reason why.
Thanks. -@5xsavvy
poll
Pros:
“By hiding like counts from other posts and someone's own, it keeps that stress out of sight and out of mind. On top of that, hiding likes is also a nice way to simplify the whole Instagram experience — even for someone that's generally not bothered by like counts.”
Screenrant.com
Improve self-esteem/mental health
prevent regret and sadness.
Prevent any cyberbullying (what I mean is that they would bully someone over their low likes/favorites, I do not know how to explain this.)
It Just would help people focus more on how great their project is than how popular it is. After all, scratch is not all about fame, yes
Cons:
I really cannot think of any at all?????
“I think it's funny how nobody on YouTube seems to think this is a good idea. While I don't know if I would classify it as a “good idea” (I don't use the dislike feature often enough to give a valid opinion on this), I don't think it's a “bad idea” by any means. I think people are somewhat blowing this out of proportion. The fact that you provide a solution (users can toggle this for themselves) gives merit to your suggestion. I do think one interesting point for this suggestion could be the following. There may be users who want to hide the love counts, but if it's as simple as flipping a switch in “Account settings,” then the users may feel compelled to turn them back on “just to peek,” and then further get discouraged and/or disappointed from looking. I wonder if stronger measures would need to be taken to ensure that users don't do this if they want love counts to be hidden.” @Za-Chary
No support. Why do you need them removed other than “Mental heath?.”
Ya'know, there was a person who once said:
“Hiding from your problems will not get rid of them” And, I think that applies here…
“Removing dislikes from YouTube was, and is still, not a good idea, because it made it a lot easier to sort out the good content. This makes it incredibly easy to create scams on YouTube, because now, you can just like bot the video and it will seem legit. On a more light side, clickbait is way easier to do, so cheating the algorithm will be easier.”
“This is not the same thing on Scratch. I do agree that the favorite button shouldn't have a count, as it's just a bookmark feature. But for the love count?? It's not comparable at all to the removal of dislikes. Likes are supposed to be encouraging. The removal will remove encouragement, enrage a lot of users and would change pretty much every aspect of scratch.”
2nd suggestion:
Unfortunately, The Mental Health Crisis has started. SO we need the ST to make the website more mental health friendly. BY giving support to scratchers who, never mind…………

What about scratch shorts???
I think this is all complete Bs, I mean, firstly, I have to agree to disagree with them, and well, I think it will not even be implemented anymore…. Also, I am going to unfollow this discussion, as I am not willing to continue any of this anymore. Finally, I might have to (re)think this suggestion because people were helpful enough to disagree with me. I have no choice but to close down this suggestion indefinitely, as I cannot think of any good suggestions at all. If, at any time, anyone agrees, well. Sorry….

Hi guys, I just realized that this suggestion would be very unhelpful to the community, and so, (I might consider closing this topic indefinitely) Thanks to all the feedback that the community has brought, but everyone disagrees with me, and that is okay. But I realized that this suggestion would cause more harm than good, so this suggestion might be closed indefinitely.
