Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are the first RPGs of Pokémon Generation IX (9), having released on November 18, 2022.

¤ The games are set in Paldea, which is based on the Iberian Peninsula

The starters in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are Sprigatito, the Grass-type Grass Cat Pokémon, Fuecoco, the Fire-type Fire Croc Pokémon, and Quaxly, the Water-type Duckling Pokémon.

The legendaries in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are Koraidon and Miraidon, who represent the past and the future respectively. These Pokémon are rideable, and they choose to join the player on their travels early on in the game.

For the first time in Pokémon history, the professors are exclusive to each game. If you play Scarlet, you'll meet Professor Sada, while you'll meet Professor Turo if you play Violet. Notice their clothing, and how it relates to the past/future theming of the games.

This topic is for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet discussion only. Anything else should go on the main Pokémon topic or the topic for that subject.

As a person who avoided the recent games because they stray a bit from the formula, I might actually pick this up. I just hope that they don’t try to implement Pokemon: Arceus fighting style as I prefer the old RPG style combat.

I personally kind of like the new fighting style because it is more realistic and adds a bit more strategy to the games, but we really don't know what Game Freak will do at this point.

My personal favorite is Quaxly, but Sprigatto is a close second.
No one really likes Fuecoco much….but compared with the other two I can see why.

I find Quaxly to be an unorigional version of Duckling with a hat.

Sprigatito looks like Lillipup, though, so I'm not sure who I'm going to choose. I'm typically against fire-type starters, but Fuecoco might actually be my choice. My choice will probably come down to be between Sprigatito and Fuecoco for usefulness in a playthrough.

We better get a pokemon that starts off as a tortilla, then becomes a soft taco, then becomes a burrito.

As a hispanic, this would be excellent.

I love the idea! It could be like Alcremie in the Galar region, but would fit right in with the vibe of the new games.

Maybe grass type, or it could have some other inspiration that changes its type. I'm thinking dragon would be cool because I feel like that fits in really well. (That would make it similar to Applin, however…)

That would be cool

Fire poison. Fire because hot sauce, poison because beans. Make it have super high defenses, give it recovery, and give it some decent attacks to not make it a punching bag.

Perfect! I love your thinking on that.
