Reject adding new random emojis
I think that adding new random emojis should be rejected.
These random emojis would not add anything beneficial to Scratch.
In what circumstances would an emoji for some random food item be useful?
However, i think emojis for new movements and important things should not be rejected. They could spread awareness for a good cause, and they're not random.

Those were for April Fools Day. The problem is Scratch already adds random food and other object emojis, and so they can't reject adding more as they would be contradicting themselves. If anything they should just add support for all emojis, just so everybody will be happy.

_candycorn_ was made in honor of a former ST member.Doesn't matter. They still added them, and they're still on Scratch today. Plus there's things like _candycorn_, _10mil_, and _cupcake_.Those were for April Fools Day. _10mil_ and probably _cupcake_ too were for celebrations.

A random emoji would be something like a lime. Random things that dont have any purpose to be on Scratch.random emojis should be rejected.Give examples of emojis which are not “random.” What types of emojis should be allowed to be suggested? I think that adding new

Reject adding new random emojis
Za-Chary asked for an example of something that is not random, not something that is random. And besides, on the scratch wiki, there is a list of emojis. Most of them are pretty random such as _camera_ or _suitcase_. So I think defining something as being “random” is much to difficult to get adding new “random” emojis rejected.A random emoji would be something like a lime. Is this in response to _soup_?
I think that might be part of it, yeah. But other than that, there have been a lot of new emoji topics recently.

I agree to this somewhat, but it does feel like this suggestion is almost targetted towards other posts in the purpose of shaming them-?
Though, I do agree. I don't support any of the new emoji suggestions (the ones that are random and just because, there are some suggestions that have non-random emojis that I can support)
If ST agreed to add one of these then they'd probably have to add them all and that's too much for out-of-the-blue emoji ideas.

They're still random, few people use them, and honestly “celebrations” is a much weaker reason to add emojis than “lots of people wanted it”.
They’re at least beneficial to me. I use _B)_ and _cupcake_ plenty, and _10mil_ a pretty good amount. Few people use emojis like _compass_. I don’t think I ever have, and I wouldn’t have included it if it were up to me.
But how are celebrations that weak? Let’s use _10mil_ as an example. Scratch had achieved the milestone of gaining 10 million Scratchers, and they wanted to do something special to celebrate. What better way could there be than to include a new emoji?
Now, as for the suggestion itself, I do think that we have enough emojis, however, I can’t say I’d take as radical of an approach as instantly rejecting someone’s suggestion because of it, simply because I see no harm in them adding it. Basically, I’m neutral on most emoji topics,

I would assume ‘not random’ would be emojis relating to current events or are otherwise relevant. BLM, Pride, Scratch Milestones/Celebrations, etc. would fall into this category. Something with a reason or purpose for being suggested instead of just ‘I think it’d be fun'

You misunderstood. These emojis are still pretty random. If Scratch decided out of the blue that they would add something like _party_ because a lot of people wanted it (or because Scratch felt like it with _meow_, _gobo_, and _waffle_), then they would still see the same use than deciding to do it for some special occasion.
Oh! I understand now. Very convincing.
In that case, I’m a bit more toward supporting it, also because of the fact that we have plenty of emojis, but I want to see more feedback first…
If I were to support it, however, I would still count adding emojis for celebrations (e.g. some special emoji when Scratch hits its 20th anniversary, there could be a suggestion to celebrate it), as well as to important movements and real-life struggles that need to be supported.
