Help Project
Hey!
It seems many questions on the 1.4 forums are pretty simple and are easy to answer. So, it makes sense that some sort of automated system would be better, where people don't have to answer these types of questions. But, even with FAQs, they just seem like “blah…blah” to many younger Scratchers.
My solution: An automated answer project! I'd like to modify my Terminal project, modifying everything but the core of it (word separation and such). I could make it so Scratch answers questions with pre-programmed responses along with pictures to show to questioners. It'd be much more easy to read and Scratch-like than that project but would look at what you say, so you could say something like “How do I post images on the forums?” and the project would reply by saying "Use the tags. Here's a sample image:".
However, I think it'd be best if it were officially adapted and supported by the Scratch Team, which would mean you guys could help in the creation and I'd set it up so Scratch Team members could add responses to specific words inputted. Additionally, It'd be best if it could show at the top of the new topic page in the Questions About Scratch forums, so they could try the project before asking the question on the forums.

Well, I think making it understand natural language may be a bit tough (and glitchy!), but I'd say making a set of interactive video tutorials can be really useful! Like a welcome to the forums project, which introduces each section, and explains the basics of forum etiquette and a bit of BBCode.

This is a cool project! But I don't think you need any kind of official endorsement from us. Just go for it!
I will say that this kind of thing is nearly always harder than it looks - otherwise tons of sites would have awesome support portals.
I'd say once you have a draft, try to get new Scratchers to test it out - maybe link to it in comments on projects by Scratchers who only have one or a few projects.

No support. The forums should be more user-friendly, but I don't wanna kill the purpose of the QaS forum. I get the FAQ sounds like “blah, blah…” but if they really want to know the answer, they should deal with it.
