I know we already have text in the costumes, but wouldn't it be so much easier to have a text block? Then, the text could be changed in real time. Text engines are complicated, and sometimes hard to use. I would rather have something that can show numbers and letters as they change. This would be a super helpful block in my opinion. How many times have you tried using a text engine to display a player's score? Well, now you can just use the text block and put a variable inside it. Here's my concept for the design of the block itself:

text []

And you can put variables in it to show scores in real time!

text (score)

This is actually currently being developed at https://lab.scratch.mit.edu/text/ under the name Animated Text. Basically what you've suggested. However, scratch lab appears to have been abandoned or postponed because the last time it was updated was more than a year ago.

There's this suggestion and this dupe of that suggestion that both talk about Animated Text that should be added to Scratch. Right now, Animated Text isn't in Scratch, but it can be tested here in Scratch Lab.
