Better Community Guidelines
The CGs are about 450 words long. The ToU are 3400 words long. The community guidelines don't include the no extension name policy, so it is sort of incomplete.Which is exactly why this Suggestion exists.

I was supporting this suggestion…The CGs are about 450 words long. The ToU are 3400 words long. The community guidelines don't include the no extension name policy, so it is sort of incomplete.Which is exactly why this Suggestion exists.
How many words do you need to describe all of the appropriate and inappropriate things on Scratch?I can't give an accurate estimate, but it'll be much less than the ToU. All the extra rules mentioned shouldn't be long, a headline and a hyperlink would serve just fine.

I think that they're should be something that is longer then the Community Guidelines so it won't be as bland but shorter then the ToU since that's a bit long for new Scratchers to read. Then maybe people could understand Scratch better without having to read a long thing.

Man, they amped up the CG's just about a year ago and made them a lot more specific, so semi-support, as it might be good, but they just did this recently

I disagree, people tend to gloss over the Terms of Use completely, while the Community Guidelines (which are significantly shorter) are generally read and referred to by most. I think that having the Terms of Use and Community Guidelines separate is best for Scratch. Also, the Terms of Use serve as a legal document, while the guidelines do not.Man, they amped up the CG's just about a year ago and made them a lot more specific, so semi-support, as it might be good, but they just did this recentlyThey need to combine the CG's with the ToU's so that way more people can understand what's allowed on Scratch and what isn't without having to read a 3.5k word long thing.
The guidelines shouldn't have every rule in the book because the guidelines are, well, guidelines. A guideline is meant to give you a good idea of what is and isn't allowed and yet be vague enough to encompass significantly more things that it would if it were too specific. You don't really want to leave loopholes in these things. And no, having the guidelines not be too specific doesn't generate more loopholes than more specific guidelines.
I feel like the guidelines are specific enough to give a good idea of what is and isn't allowed, while still being vague enough to encompass a significant amount of things.

Also, the Terms of Use serve as a legal document, while the guidelines do not.I can see what you mean, but the thing is I, and several other people sometimes might have gotten notifications in the past from the ST as a reminder to ‘please keep all comments appropriate to the Community Guidelines.’ But meanwhile the context of your comment wasn't breaking the Community Guidelines. Or maybe it was, but it isn't specifically clear.

I think that the ST could use to elaborate the Community Guidelines just a bit. Overall, I think the Guidelines is pretty helpful, but it could really use just a few more details.
