So I got a totally wicked idea to make everyone happy. What if we just add a button that lets us switch between 2.0 and 3.0, therefore bringing everything back to the way it was before? Like this isn't a joke, I'm incredibly serious. Everyone who wants the old graphics and sound editor back can simply switch to the 2.0 Editor. People who prefer the 3.0 and find it easier to use can simply use it. I hope the Scratch Team considers this idea.

The Scratch Team is not considering a “skin” that switches between 2.0 and 3.0.

You can do it for the session by changing the CSS of the editor although it's impossible to do forever without extensions.
