That might be nice. A potential problem with it, is that profile comment sections usually get more comments than a single thread does, so if you check often, you'll get a lot of notifications.

And, some people might make comment threads on their profiles to give their followers updates, so you could perhaps follow a thread that would contain these updates.

Instead, there should be a dedicated page for comment threads, that lists all your followed threads, and allows you to unfollow them easily. The messages page is for messages, not un following.
