Text to Speech
If we can depict subtitles in bubbles, we should also have text to speech. There could also be different voices.
speak [] :: sound
speak [] until done :: sound
set voice to [... v] :: sound
set voice to [David v] :: sound

Text to Speech
I heard that Scratch 3.0 will implement text-to-speech in some way. I don't have an official source, but I hope it's true!

If you look at the Scratch 3.0 GUI there is a text to speech extension, which makes me pretty sure that this is already being done. This has been around for a while, but I believe at one point was removed then added back, but regardless, I do think it's coming.
Also, duplicate, although that probably isn't the oldest.

How ‘bout this:
Scratch 3.0 has TTS (Text To Speech)… but why can’t it have STT (Speech To Text)?

Text to Speech
This feature is coming in Scratch 3.0, which is coming in January! It is an extension called “text to speech,” which includes a speak block (which speaks text until done), voice, and language.

How ‘bout this:There used to be an extension in scratch 3.0 for speech to text, but they eventually removed it before it was ever finished (it probably was too hard to make). A while later, they added text to speech, but it would be cool if there was speech to text…

To my knowledge, the Scratch Team is still working on Speech to Text. I don't think they completely got rid of it.

I really hate the TTS voices currently.
Alto is just a woman's voice.
Tenor is a man's voice.
Squeak is high pitch alto.
Giant is a very deep voice.
Kitten is just squeak saying meow
If these decisions were in my hands, I'd add in TONS of TTS voices for a Scratch 4.0 We'll just have to wait and see what happens.

I really hate the TTS voices currently.Hi! This topic is quite old, which is considered necroposting. Please refrain from doing this on the forums. Although necroposting doesn't exist in the Suggestions forum, this suggestion is already implemented, so you did do it, possibly on accident.
