Ahem, anyway… I like this idea, though I don't like how “topics” is listed first in the mock-up, especially considering that Scratch Team is trying to distance the forums from the main site. I feel like the forums should still have their own custom search feature.

I'm good with the users part of the search engine but I'm not good with the "topics' part of the search engine because we already have a place for forums…. although i think they should add a topic search bar in the topics section.

The Topics tab in the mock-up is a tab so you can search for topics that are in the forums.

Support; it makes absolutely no sense to me that you still can't search for forum topics and users after all these years.

Scratch used to use Google Custom Search, and it returned results in way more categories. When the new search was added, the Scratch Team said that they would eventually get around to adding more categories (IIRC), but that never happened.

Support, searching for users/topics would be very useful!
Topic: if you don't have a link to Ocular, this would be useful. Also, if you for some reason cannot open up a new tab, this would be nice!
Users: sometimes if you search up a username, you get projects about them, not by them (try griffpatch) so this would be helpful.

This would be awesome! It would make it easier to find dupes, that's for sure.

I really love this idea, also, really good mock-up.

Support as the idea is creative and effective. One problem with the topic tab is that it makes the forums too prone to New Scratchers or Scratchers who don’t know how the forums work, increasing block spam, etc.

Other than that, very good idea C:

Yes, it looks really good, I gotta say, but I mean, a quick and dirty thingy would do the job too.
And it's at least on my screen 4:3. 4:3 is sooo underrated!

4:3 is inferior to 16:9. Bigger aspect ratio = more things on screen.
