If there was an option to enable whether you could turn on or off going to people's profiles using @, I would support

When did I ever say emails were involved? Website URLs can have an @ symbol in them, so this could potentiall,. break any URLs on the forums with the @ symbol in them.

Maybe they could make it detect URLs and not create a link
