If a project is showing personal information of a scratcher, you could just report the project… Anyways, support.

Support. It would be nice to use maps to make more advanced games.

No support. Even if there was an age limit, some people might just use a random age, and then give away their real location.
Also, this could be used to say, “lets meet _ _______” by zooming on the map spot. Anyway, even people 10 and up shouldn't have the choice to use this. I can't see how this would benefit games and Scratch in general.

No support. As like some people said, people could use this:
go to [Users location]:: pen
say [Meet me here]

Yes, but people might have already seen it by then. It's better to prevent stuff like this then have to attempt to fix it

It could be used to give out personal info way too easily.

Elaborate?
go to location [where I live]
say [This is my house! :D]

because stalkers
you can still find your house on google maps, take a screenshot, make a say block with your address and you basically did the same thing you were talking about above. there is a way to share info no matter what you do.

No support. If you really need a map, you can just screenshot one from your browser.
This feature could also give away personal information, because Google Maps could track your location.
Also, it would complicate scratch a lot to have maps like this, and it would require a lot more settings and blocks than the ones shown in the original suggestion.

It could just not let you do that or save your location to the cloud (like with video sensing)
Also, this suggestion made more sense back then because:

@sdg1 is working on this in Map Scratch. Please don't ask me any questions about it, though. I really don't know much about it.

easy workaround:
say [I live at (insert house address here)]
if someone does that just report the project
however, no support, as some people put fake locations onto google maps with very inappropriate names and stuff

Actually, I agree with mathfreak, that younger Scratchers might use it unknowingly to reveal private information.

And it was a feature, I think “Map Scratch” used to exist, but it was shutdown. I doubt it's coming back.

No Support.

Then only Scratchers who are, say, 10 years or older could access the feature.

Rejected as per tOLoRS for this idea in particular.

(In The Official List of Rejected Suggestions)

7.2 A 13+ version of the Scratch website or age-restricted content
Scratch is designed for ages 8 to 16, but any content shared on the website must be appropriate for all ages. Dividing the community by making a separate, age-restricted website would not be helpful. Potential restrictions from entering the website (such as a warning, or requiring a parent to answer math equations) would not necessarily stop an underage child from entering the 13+ website.

This suggestion extends to age-restricting anything on Scratch, such as viewing specific projects or accessing specific Scratch features. As a general rule, Scratch is for all ages, and content shared on the Scratch website should be appropriate for all ages.

ok i realized you could just draw out a swear word onto a bg and it would have the same effect BUT swear words can appear unintentionally, say you want to pull up a random location, you do that and uh oh! swear words! yeah not the greatest idea ever
