Some form of digital currency which allows you to “buy” Scratch features (with real or fake money) would not really benefit the educational value of Scratch; after all, there is not really anything that you can buy. While there could be features that are only unlockable via digital currency, this does not really contribute to Scratch's purpose of being a programming language available for everyone. Shops in Scratch usually refer to something where you ask for a service, asset, etc. and are usually not paid for with some sort of currency.

It won't use currency, you just ask for something through a form, like the forums, and you'll get something!

I know, but I am saying that it might be confusing for some people as a “shop” sounds like something you have to pay money to get stuff from.
