Update Scratch Desktop for Windows to use Windows 11 UI
Windows 11 is just around the corner and I think Scratch Desktop (the Microsoft Store app) should update soon to utilize the Fluent Design System in its UI!
Here's my concept of how this would look:

I made this so it doesn't look any less like scratch 3.0, as changing the apperance too much could cause confusion to scratch users on other platforms.

It would look out of place with the many Windows 10, macOS, and Linux users, along with inconsistency with the main site.

It's just some unnecessary changes (different font & icons). That doesn't make it feel more like a windows application.
Also, the editor is supposed to look playful.

It's just some unnecessary changes (different font & icons). That doesn't make it feel more like a windows application.… How does my mockup look less playful, exactly, I don't see what you mean. In my opinion, it looks close enough to the normal editor to not look any less child friendly.
Also, the editor is supposed to look playful.
Also, these icon changes aren't random, they're actually using the Fluent Design System icon set, which suits more as a windows application, and font is just the normal Windows 11 font.
I was only trying to make the editor not look out of place in windows 11, and not completely different from the normal scratch editor.

Well now because of this suggestion I ask for an update to Scratch Desktop on macOS 12 Monterey as well - will that happen? The ST will and should never cater to one type of Operating System.

It's just tweaking the design for the app, it hardly even is considered “catering”… its not like its a complete design overhaul, it's just some design changes that make it fit in with the OS and is still just Scratch 3.0 in the end.

This is just my opinion, but the current editor looks just more ‘natural’. Plus, there isn't any good reason to change the appearance. I understand that, with the coming of Windows 11, you want to update it to make it look ‘consistent’, but honestly, the Scratch editor looks just fine as it is.

I really am amazed at how well this turned out - it looks awesome.
Wouldn’t this be rather hard to implement, though?

Maybe I'm biased but I hate how Windows 11 has to made everything semi-transparent or flat. ::motion
It's nothing but distracting and can actually be a problem for some colorblind users. ::motion

I don't think this is possible - The entire scratch desktop app is just HTML, CSS, and Javascript packaged using Electron. I don't think it's possible to use Mica or Acrylic in CSS.

Apps don't have to be Windows-styled though, and I don't think Scratch necessarily shares the style of any operating system right now, it's just Scratch-styled. But I do believe it could be nice if at most a few parts of the interface can adapt to the colors of your background or something kind of like your desktop's look.

I like the mockup, but I think it changes the current design too much. A Mica style title bar and menu bar would be enough to make Scratch look like a Windows 11 app without replacing any icons or other elements of Scratch's design, but I don't think that's even possible with Electron.
Acrylic context menus would also be a nice addition and they can be made with just CSS.

How does my mockup look less playful, exactlyIt makes it look more like an application made for adults.
Also, these icon changes aren't random, they're actually using the Fluent Design System icon set, which suits more as a windows application,Same points apply.
font is just the normal Windows 11 font.Same points apply again.
I was only trying to make the editor not look out of place in windows 11,It's an app for children. It shouldn't feel like any regular boring app.

Blur and easily noticeable shadows usually make something look more advanced. I personally like that style, but not everyone does.
