King of Page 3

And also, if this gets implemented, not only will the new scratchers get demotivated, but the scratchers that don't leave will make their own love and favorite buttons using cloud variables, thus only the cons of this suggestion will show.

“Updating” the project page will only make the site worse than it already is

No support, huge demotivation and leaving (and the ST ‘'discourages’' it, they rejected dislikes because of mass-leaving).

No support. That sort of studio should be reportable, but there is no other way of showing support for a Scratcher without commenting. Plus, favoriting a project essentially bookmarks it, making it easy to return to it.

I KNOW THAT! WHAT IS BETTER FOR THE COMMUNITY DOESN'T ALWAYS NESSECARILY BREAK THE GUIDELINES!
probably they do

They are being abused
If the “abuse” doesn't harm anyone or anything in anyway or break the community guidelines, it doesn't matter.
I've seen many projects say “Love and fave for 10 free coins” and there was even one game that had 3 maps and you had to love and fave to access the third. I'm certain those aren't allowed.
Then why not report them?
How are the ST supposed to know every time someone breaks the rules?
They do need the community to report these things.
Still, it happens all too commonly. Getting rid of loves and faves would make it easier for the ST, and also (read the part in bold):

Support. They are being abused, and you can use comments to show you like a project, which IMO is more constructive than simply loving a project. And if you want to save a project for later, just use your browser's bookmarking feature.
So there wouldn't be many problems if loves and faves were removed.

Not really. How often do you see those? Also, what happens when the comments are off? How do the rows on the front page work? Why can't we have a way to display others' projects on a profile?
What actual reason is there to implement this suggestion other than the subjective, flawed logic of “it'd help get rid of fame”. One can pursue fame if one wants to. The only time it becomes a problem is when it violates the Terms of Use, Community Guidelines, and/or any policy Scratch has, in which case, it's reportable. It's easy enough to report as one comes across them.
And you have no idea what problems would arise from this. (Mainly community backlash, but other problems that may not be so simple to solve.)

Many people use love and favorites and don't care about fame. Why ruin it for them?

What if ,say, you were not allowed to comment? How else would you share that you like a project? What about if the comments on the project were closed? And the profile?
(this is also why I no support)
Edit: DarthVader4Life also was talking about commenting, so I guess my point about the project is invalid since someone already said it
