Idea for a Logo Change [Scratch 3.0]

Anyway, I think the suggested logo (in the OP) removes too much of the personality of the original one. Since Scratch is supposed to be a website and programming language for beginners (most often children), it makes sense to have a logo that envokes playful and/or childlike traits, e.g. wobbly base direction and resembling something you would find in an alphabet book. Like others have pointed out, this is similar to the recent trend of logo simplifications, and since the resulting feedback from them is generally negative, I think Scratch shouldn't take the same step. Other than making it look “cleaner”, I don't see any advantages - it would only ruin the recognized look currently estabilished in more than seventy million heads.

The best thing about the scratch logo is the font. When I see it, I'm like, that's the scratch writing innit!" The font has become a big symbolism for the website as a whole. So it doesn't really make any sense changing something so symbolic. Also, I honestly think that the current font looks nicer and more unique.

No support. The typeface in the suggested logo lacks the personality and character of the original (current) one. Since Scratch is a website targeted at children, it makes sense for the logo to have the childlike, lighthearted feeling; the skewed, disproportionate, letters (as if drawn free-hand) and the wobbly straight lines with mostly no curving.

The current font is iconic, and represents the playfulness and creativity that Scratch encourages in every Scratcher. Scratch's logo has been updated to keep with the times, but the font itself will likely never be changed.

Great suggestion, although this is something that would be very far down on Scratch's priority list. Isn't the logo the Scratch logo but in a different font?
