Onion skin in Bitmap
Hi,
I post some animations usually in vector, because there is a way to do an « onion skin » and it’s the only way for me to make smooth animations. I prefer the bitmap draw style tho but I cannot do the onion skin that I do in the vector editor. Does anyone knows how @Hambegar or @FUZZIE-WEASEL for example create their animations in bitmap?
Have a good day,
Heh

Hi!
I don’t completely know but I have a solution (a tedious one but a solution) duplicate the sprite change the sprite to ghost 50% (or whatever) and put it on the sprite before and add more sprites eachtime
Honestly, I would make the animation then do this, if anything seems odd you have an onion
Hope this (tedious) solution helped!

You just draw in bitmap every layer in separated costumes, convert those to vector, and go ading to a final vector image.

Hey, thx for ur replies,
For example in vector I draw the first drawing, then I duplicate it and change the color a lil bit, then I draw above it the second drawing (in black color), and when I finished I can select the drawing that I changed the color, to delete it (idk if it was understable lol)
But when I want to do that in bitmap, I can’t select just the drawing behind, it select everything and that’s why I can’t do animations in bitmap
Ps: thanks for the pizz

If you’ve heard of Turbowarp before, it’s a scratch-compatible website made by scratchers to make projects run faster. If you go inside the editor mode, there’s an onion skin plugin that you can use fully in bitmap or vector. Although the only unfortunate thing is you have to manually save and load the project to your device every time you work on it (I’m not sure if I’m allowed to talk about Turbowarp on here tbh lol).

Np! Yes, if you save the file to your computer or device, you can transfer it to scratch by loading it onto a new project.

Top tip: use a scratch mod named “ScratchAddons”
Its insanely useful, has cosmetic and useful features and keeps scratch normal with no external websites. To add onion skin, go to the scratchaddons website, download it. In chrome, tap on the extension icon in the top right and press the settings cog. Search for a mod to enable it.
