Onion Skins and Scratch
but what if you need something like, say, a walking animation for a game? it would take hours to use another software and upload the image to Scratch and then do it again for the next frameExactly, this is the point I am trying to make. If you want graphic design use software designed for art. That will have this feature and more. The truth is that not everyone has access to other programs. Maybe they're using it in class, or they're not allowed to download things or visit non-approved sites.uhhhhhh
Why would a class use scratch, of all things, for graphic design/art/animation?

Do not comment “No support” I'm not forcing you, this is not North Korea, but please do not spam post the same thing over and over.As long as they're providing constructive feedback, saying “No support” isn't spam. By your logic, saying “Support” or “Semi-support”* is spam.
*even with constructive criticism

What does Support mean?It means you agree with the suggestion, and you'd like to see it implemented, hence, you support the suggestion.

I know how to make onion skinning in the editor:
Note: make sure the screen refresh option is on
Another note: idk if this is necessary but on the “When I start as a Clone”, put a forever loop block and put on switch costume to costume number
define onion skin
switch costume to [(first costume) v]
repeat until <(costume #) = [1]>
next costume
create clone of [myself v]
end
when I start as a clone
set [ghost v] effect to (50)
when green flag clicked
onion skin
Note: make sure the screen refresh option is on
Another note: idk if this is necessary but on the “When I start as a Clone”, put a forever loop block and put on switch costume to costume number
forever
switch costume to [(costume #) v]
end

I know how to make onion skinning in the editor:
yes, but this only shows up on the stage, not in the actual editor where you are drawing/animating. this would be difficult because you would have to keep looking over at the stage in order to create an animation, and is therefore impractical for most animators. nice idea though /gen

They probably wouldn't, but that isn't really my point at all. Like I said in the rest of my post, onion skinning is versatile and can be used for all sorts of different projects, not just animations. Although maybe a lot of classes would utilize Scratch for more artsy things if the features were there. I'm homeschooled so correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe a lot of schools also have dedicated computer time for students to be on educational sites and software, Scratch likely being one of them. That was mostly what I was referring to when I said “in class”, sorry if it wasn't clear. The truth is that not everyone has access to other programs. Maybe they're using it in class, or they're not allowed to download things or visit non-approved sites.uhhhhhh

Yeah, we probably should. Would a report of the main post be suitable? OR… transparency could just be an option in the paint editor. (As a slider in the colors)

Onion skinning would make animations so much easier to make - a browser extension implements this really well. It's also tucked near the bottom of the screen and also has advanced features
