weekly page crawl - 8/2 - 8/9
DISCLAIMER: There might be some pronoun and name mistakes in this in regard to the leaders and co-leaders, since we made some last minute changes to fit the amount of cabins.
Welcome, Bizarro Fiction campers, to your first weekly page crawl!
Your average page count from this crawl will be 310, so be prepared!
You have the whole week to complete this, you aren't in a rush!
As you push the curtains open and enter the circus, your heart rate quickens.
You were accepted into the job of a circus performer, and you just want to to well on your first day. Mads and Cloud greet you again, smiling.
“I see you're excited for your incredible debut as a performer?” Mads asks you. She was more of telling you, but you nod.
“Nervous, too.” Cloud jumps into the conversation. “Everyone's nervous on their first day. Mads, is it alright if I take our new
performer on the tour?” Mads nods. “I'll come, just to supervise,” she replies. Cloud pulls open the door, and the music fills your
ears again. “You're going to have to get used to that!” Cloud yells over the noise. They lead you over to some of the natives in the
stands. “These are the people that will be watching your performance most of the time here. Better get used to the audience.”
Do the main cabin daily and read an additional chapter while Cloud tells you about the natives.
Next, Cloud takes you to the stage. “This is where all our performances will be.” “Our?” you ask, confused.
“Yeah. Mads is the ringmaster, and I'm the director. Anyway, you should get comfortable on stage and tell us a little
bit about yourself,” they tell you. You nod slowly and climb onto the stage. From this view, it's a more
modern circus than the one's you've seen in movies. “Hey, I'm y/n and…”
Read for 15 minutes while you tell the natives and other performers about yourself.
Mads takes over the tour now. She takes you to the tightropes. Two girls sit down, fixing their outfits and shoes for the upcoming performance.
“These are Daisy and Clay, two of our allies. They lead the tightrope (fantasy) section (cabin) of the circus (camp),” Mads tells you. Daisy gets
up quickly, excited. “Hey, I heard you were the new circus performer! We've got a few new tightrope-ers as well, so don't worry, you're not the
only one new on the job!” Clay joins in the conversation and stands. “I really loved your introduction on stage! You're going to do just fine as
a circus performer,” she says. “And you've got Mads and Cloud, so you'll do amazing!” Daisy pipes up.
Roll two dice and multiply the number you got by 5. Read that number of pages while you continue to talk with Daisy, Clay, Mads, and Cloud.
You say good-bye to Daisy and Clay, and follow Mads further backstage to the elephant riders. Another set of people are in the room, feeding
elephants in the hugest stalls you've ever seen. “Hey, Hope! Glad to see you've been chosen,” Cloud says. Hope looks up and smiles.
“Hey, guys. I see you have a new circus performer?” Mads nods. “This is y/n,” she says, gesturing to you. Hope offers some elephant food to
you. “Meet Haven, our oldest female elephant,” she says, pointing to the huge elephant in front of you. “Want to feed her?”
You nod and take some food from their hand.
Read to the nearest 50 pages (if you're at 112, read to 150) while you feed Haven.
You feed the last bit of food to Haven, and look back to Mads and Cloud. “Hope is our other ally,” Mads tells you. The three of you say goodbye to them and go to the clown setup room. People are putting white and red
makeup on two people's faces. “Those are Sunny and Daisy (yes the same daisy). They're our enemies, but be nice until circus wars,” Cloud says. Sunny shoos away the two people doing the makeup and sits up. “How's it been with your new job so far?” Sunny asks. “It's been going
well, but it's not like I've done much.” Mads looks back from watching others get their makeup done and joins the conversation.
“After we're done with the tour, we're going to see what skills y/n has in the circus,” she tells Sunny. “Daisy, what have you been up
to?” “Some planning for the fort, and we're going to perform today, but not much otherwise,” she says. “Want to look like
clowns?” You look to Cloud and Mads. They turn towards each other and seem to talk with their eyes. They turn back. “Why not?”
Cloud says. You get into a chair next to Cloud and Mads and get your clown makeup done.
Read 50 pages while you get your clown makeup done.
When you're successfully clown-looking, you follow Cloud and Mads to the magician's supply room. There, you find two girls. They're
wearing the stereotypical magician outfit– top hats, suits, white gloves, and capes –and look up. The first girl smiles. “You must be our
allies,” she says. “Welcome. I'm Grace. Here we test magic, get ready for the show, and have little backstage performances. This is Star-”
gesturing to the girl getting her shoes on next to her, “-and would you like to see a magic performance?” “Of course!” Mads says excitedly.
“Thank you for your hospitality, allies,” Cloud says. You, Cloud, and Mads take seats and watch Clove and Grace's show.
Do the in-cabin daily and read three additional chapters as you watch the magic show.
You thank Grace and Star for their time and for the amazing show, and return to the main circus with Mads and Cloud. “Tomorrow, we'll
be seeing what you can do as a circus performer,” Cloud tells you while Mads takes an important phone call. “Be ready.”
Read to the nearest 50 pages as the day winds down and you go home from your first day as a circus performer.
Then, take a 4 hour break from reading anything.
