if you want privacy, you could use TOR or a regular VPN
TOR + Linux + VPN + Another proxy = Total security
well most of that is correct but it strongly recommended that you dont use a vpn + tor. check out this video

Google, in Google Chrome.
Mmm, don't you just love tracking software??
and with that setup you get the best of it
Yes, actually I don't mind the tracking, as it improves the software and databases. Plus, Google has all are information anyway so why worry?
what databases?

What's that?
ecosia: plant trees by searching
oceanhero: get bottles off the water by searching, idk how to explain it

the only catch is that they only use bing to fetch searches

I've used Ecosia/Oceanhero for over a year straight, only occassionally switching to another search engine if I want different results.

…has anyone talking about Tineye yet?

There's one called Ecosia that plants trees for every search, and it doesn't sell your data. I used it for a while but switched back to Google

That's for images, I doubt anyone uses it to search the web

Yup, but it still counts as a search engi-

Google wrote:

Does that mean Tineye isn't techncially a search engine?

Yes, but remember:

Google wrote:

The user isn't specifying characters or keywords, they're specifying images
Checkmate conservatives?

It's interesting how the thoughts on this vary. I think its results catering for you is ultimately harmful, because it will essentially give you the information you want, which in the age of misinformation is bad, as it will give you what you want to hear, whether it is true, reliable, etc or not. Engines like DuckDuckGo are unbiased and don't create result bias through the user's activities.
I think all search engines are biased to some degree, and it's more dangerous to be complacently treating one search engine as completely unbiased. It's best to be skeptical of any site listed in search results, regardless of the search engine

Sometimes I use Bing because Windows' search bar insists on using Bing. I believe DuckDuckGo gets most of its results from Bing (as does Yahoo Search), so their result quality is fairly similar (as Eric Trump once discovered in a Tweet about the image search results for “mob”)
if you like google then you can use startpage or whoogle. there are basically front end's for google search so you wont be tracked but you will still have the same search results as google

some good google alternatives are
DuckDuckGo
Searx (not really a search engine just a customisable frontend)
Startpage (also not a search engine just a frontend for google)
whoogle (same as startpage but open source and self hostable)

I think you misunderstand my point. I personally don't care about being tracked if it's by some algorithm or government agency that treats me as an object or commodity rather than a person since the consequences of their tracking are unlikely to affect my personal life. Google's tracking is what makes their products so good; one can think of it as a paid service where I pay my data to use their services.

To prove that you should always be skeptical of search results.
Edit: I didn't make this
