Custom Categories

One thing that i've allways wanted in scratch are Custom Categories. Custom Categories are like More Blocks, but more organized.

When you load up a scratch project there will be another category called ‘Custom’. You can click on it and this will appear in the category:

Custom:
There are no new blocks
in this category yet.
Click to add a block

If you click Click to add a block, then you will get a window that looks like the ‘More Blocks’ menu.

You can also ‘Right-Click’ a category and a menu will pop-up.

▪ Delete
▪ Duplicate
—————-
▪ Rename
▪ Recolor

'Delete' won't appear on normal categories like ‘Motion’ or ‘Pen’ or ‘Control’
'Recolor' won't appear on normal categories. To recolor the normal categories Shift-Click on ‘Edit ▾’ and click ‘Edit block colors’.
'Duplicate' will run on any category.
'Rename' will run on any category (helpful for new scratchers).

Extra, Pointless Things:
▪ Custom category's default color will be #ff00c0, or a redish-magenta (violet-red).
▪ Click the + next to the custom category and you can create a new category.

Had a picture but didn't know how to post .png files.
Someone tell me how.

that feature is not in scratch 3.0, so there would be that menu.

So, you were saying something about custom categories?

I think it is a good idea because it would keep your custom blocks organized. Also, I support it about 80%.

i think it would be cool if you could make your own category and put already existing blocks in it, give it a name, color the category etc.

i dont think it will be added anytime soon tho lol

EDIT: AnYwAy I support, this could make things easier if you think somethings belong together, even if they are not together in “default” categories.

support, this could be really helpful for people who have a lot of custom blocks and need some categories. also there should be a button that lets you put blocks from my blocks/other categories into different categories

This would be really helpful for engines or things that require multiple custom blocks. Also, maybe this could be the solution to the global custom block issue..?

Yes! That's a great idea as the categories could be global
