i am going to close this topic since theres no good discussion happening and its really just spam and misinformation.
i'll request it to be reopened in a few hours.
useful links:
- misconceptions
- update screenshots
- development history
- be notified when the update releases (this is just for fun to see if its possible, please dont be impatient)
update: as of around 15 minutes ago, the release PR is edited to say that it deploys the new studio page. that doesn't neccesarily mean its launching today but at the very least its going to be soon.

update:
managers can no longer update studio titles, descriptions, and thumbnail. i'm not sure if this is actually going into production but its a little bit concerning.. especially since it was already merged.

im a bit speechless on how big of a change this is. i really hope theres something i'm missing, but from what i can tell, when the update launches, managers will only be able to invite other curators, promote them, remove them and manage projects…
update:
the new api endpoints are no longer IP restricted via fastly. it is very likely it is launching today!! (also the forum moderators dont seem to be online so it seems like this thread isn't going to be reopened before the update goes live.)
update:
the release PR is merged, within a few minutes we'll probably see the new studios page.

its out!!

I don't at all. Like this is the worst update the ST has ever made. Worse than auto-mute. Worse than discuss button. Worse than huge 3.0 blocks. Worse than literally every other controversial update ever. I like the update!

I thought I would, but I don't. I like the update!
It's the manager limit. Not the limit on the number of managers, but the limit on what they can do.

It's even worse with signature preview.

MANAGERS ARE POINTLESS NOW
next update: remove managers altogether if they are pointless

I hate the fact that only New Scrathers can create studios. It looks like that “More Restrictions for New Scratchers” topic from a couple of months ago really got to them.

Spelling mistake again? Did you mean I hate the fact that only New Scrathers can create studios. It looks like that “More Restrictions for New Scratchers” topic from a couple of months ago really got to them.only Scratchers can create studios

One thing that I don't understand is how heavily managers are restricted. A manager limit was added to prevent studio vandalism, and then they weren't able to make edits to the studio anymore for the same reason. It seems to me like overkill for a relatively small problem. It would be better to educate users about the dangers of promoting managers, or slightly restricting managers instead of making such a drastic change. For example, making it so that managers gradually get permissions (eg. after a week, they can edit the title, after a month they can edit the thumbnail, and after two months edit the description), or limiting the number of characters that managers can change per day. The fact that these changes were made abruptly without community feedback is also very unfortunate.

It's even worse with signature preview.I highly doubt the signature preview thing is intentional

The only thing studios will still be able to be used for without problems are collections of projects. Any studio that currently has a different purpose will need to find an alternative.

I think the popup that appears when promoting someone to a manager is enough to prevent studio raids, and it wouldn't harm studios in any way. I don't understand why they decided to go further and limit both the number of managers and what they can do. One thing that I don't understand is how heavily managers are restricted. A manager limit was added to prevent studio vandalism, and then they weren't able to make edits to the studio anymore for the same reason. It seems to me like overkill for a relatively small problem.
