In all seriousness, if Scratch Team members have referred to the cat using he/him pronouns, it's possible that Scratch Cat is supposed to be gender ambiguous and without a canon gender. You could interpret the cat as male, non-binary, or anything you want.

They're not exactly androgynous; they're non-binary, which means their gender is neither male nor female. (Not to be confused with agender, a lack of gender altogether.)
