I thought it would be really cool if the green flag you click to start the project could become a rainbow flag for pride month, like the cat blocks for April Fools' Day. I know some people might find this offensive, so it could be an option to keep it as the regular flag so if people don't want it they don't have to have it.

I like both ideas though as it shows scratch welcomes this community and shows it is OK to be in this community. I don’t think it will be offensive as it has good intentions, which I also like

I think this would confuse a lot of newer scratchers. Although I do realize the good intentions, consider the following scenario:

Lets say that ScratcherA visits a project called “Rock Simulator.” The project is very old and the person who made it has left scratch. The project instructions say to click the green flag several times. ScratcherA gets confused about where the green flag is, being that there is a rainbow flag instead of a green flag.

In most scenarios, I'm pretty sure the scratcher would realize that the rainbow flag was technically the green flag. But there is that to keep in mind. And the same applies to project made during the rainbow flag month that say to click the rainbow flag several times.

Good point. The rainbow flag could be an option you could turn on in settings, so by defualt it is green but you can change it so it is rainbow. This adds onto the thing about turning it off if you don't want it. You can just enable it if you want it.

I see what you mean, but this would only be for one month and I really don't think it would be that big of a problem. If the Scratcher asks about it in the comments, like I would if I couldn't find the flag, most likley another Scratcher would explain to them. I have seen a lot of people just calling it ‘the flag’, and that wouldn't be a problem as it is still a flag.

I think that that is not the right view. The LGBTQ community should be accepted.

Interesting idea, but it should only show once you click the green flag. (to not confuse new scratchers)

As stated, there should be an option to turn it on. But i'm pretty sure everybody will know where the flag is, so support.

the view they are expressing isn't really not accepting to the community though- just pointing out a potential problem.

I do think this would be nice but might there be another way this could be integrated like a keyboard shortcut?

Perhaps there could be a little note somewhere that the green flag = the rainbow flag? Just throwing that out there. Also I totally support the idea, but Yellowsheep43's points are valid concerns.

Honestly, I was reading this thread and both sides make fair points and concerns. Now, I personally do not participate in pride month, as I do not know anybody, including myself, that is LGBTQ or anything else.

Honestly though, I see it as a warm and nice gesture, and I don't honestly see any reason why this couldn't be implemented, and there could just be a notification on the top of the project before they press it that the rainbow flag is the green flag, if it REALLY matters that much.

Although, if a new scratcher is new, they don't know where the “Start” button is in the first place, so it wouldn't make any difference, seeing as it is a flag next to a stop sign…

Like I said, both sides make fair points, but I see no reason not to. Every problem presented here has a relatively simple solution, or it seems that way to me at least.

No support, it we did this we would also have to add the flag of every other thing or someone could accuse you of being biased. It would be to much effort to add all of these.
