This could easily be used for pop-up ads that automatically take you to a website or inappropriate project - so I suggest and option that can be accessed in each project and in your settings menu that allows you to turn off linking.

Yes I like that idea and it will make it safer. But the going to an inappropriate website or project wouldn't matter because first of all you can only go to scratch projects and secondly, what's the point in sending the user to a different inappropriate project All it will do is get both projects reported and also a report button is for stopping that.
