Hello!

To start this off, I wanted to say that this idea is not mine, its someone's who wrote for the @pleaseread- account. (Original project: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/474893049).

I suggest going to check that out quickly, so that you can see why I think changing followers to supporters is a good idea.

Secondly, I think this might be more “Scratch” so to say. What I mean by that is that Scratch is very different to all social media platforms. I think changing followers to supporters will make Scratch more unique and kid-friendly

Quite honestly I think changing followers to supporters, will just be better for Scratch in general.

Followers used to be friends, but it was changed to followers in 2.0. I don't think we need another change.

Yes, I know that followers used to be friends and it's been changed once. I think the change might be beneficial though

How though? Followers is fairly straightforward, so I don't think it's the potential for confusion.

this would encourage even more that scratch's main goal is fame, the reason followers are even implemented in the first place is so people know what the person they are following is doing

"This might not seem like a big deal, but I think if we did this, it would show that scratch is more pointed towards support for each other instead of fame. You may have thousands of supporters, or you may just have a handful. Either way, when someone clicks that support button instead of a follow button, I think it sends a stronger message than a follow would.
I would love it if people “supported” because they loved me! Because they like what I did, or because I’m a great friend and they just want to support what I do as a person. This might even make follow for follow seem less fame hungry- Instead of saying “HEY! Could we do f4f?” it might become “Hello! Would you like to support each other?” or, “could you support one of my awesome friends who I believe is truly worth supporting!

I think that, that would be truly beneficial to Scratch.

But, couldn't it do the exact opposite as well?

Also, support is a term generally used by forumers. Since there are not a lot of scratchers that are forumers, comparatively speaking, there will not be that many that even understand the change, much less what it actually means. Scratchy697's point would fit well right here.

I highly doubt that logic. You forget that there are intentions involved. The intent behind f4f is to get a follow and in return give a follow. This is beneficial to both users. But that's usually it.
Now let's look at a hypothetical situation, Scratcher A is struggling to get views. (All of this done in allowed practices.) Scratcher B asks for support for support. Scratcher A is now inclined to believe that they are willing to commit to helping them. Scratcher B doesn't do anything else and Scratcher A gets offended for some reason. (Believe me when I say that I don't know what that reason is.)

Another thing to consider is that f4f looks and sounds better than s4s.

Less confusing, and it takes a while to transition.

I for one, agree with this. I can't describe my reason why I support, basically would you prefer
A: (USERNAME) is now following you
or
B: (USERNAME) is now supporting you

Anyways, support!

No support. I dont really think another change is necessary
