Easy; you play Hollow Knight (#notspon)

You've got a point about the subscriptions and paid stuff. It's hard to keep track of the system and the games you have, and on top of that, you have to worry about subscriptions. Not DLC though, that's fine imo. (also, I think you mean Wii/PS3/Xbox 360 ANDBEFORE because I'm pretty sure those systems didn't need paid online.)

I've been playing spore by EA on my PC. It's about making a species, helping it grow, and eventually reaching space. When you reach space, your goal becomes to get to the center of the galaxy. Most of the stars you can put your creatures on are near the middle, so it's not too hard. I've spent a while grinding on one planet and, I'll say it, it's pretty surreal. It came out just one year after scratch did, too! The ending's pretty funny, because they make everything so dramatic only for you to meet an alien with a strangely high-pitched voice.

I play Terraria as it's a really fun game, and it's hard to run out of stuff to do!
It's better than Minecraft, (My opinion of course.)

Oh goodness gracious. Are you ready to hear me go on a rant on a rather insignificant indie bug game?

~The Super Long Prologue~
Bug Fables. The spiritual successor to the first two Paper Mario games. I never played the original 2 Paper Mario games when they first came out because… well… I wasn't born yet. The first Paper Mario game I ever played (excluding the time when 10 year old me got the Japanese version of the original because my mother did not know it was very text oriented) was Origami King. My online friend introduced me to the game, and I absolutely loved every moment of it!
Huh? There are more Paper Mario games? Well, looks like it's time to collect those!
The Christmas following, I got TTYD, Super, and Colour Splash. The first one I completed was TTYD because it was apparently “the good one” (though I really like Super and Colour Splash is pretty good). I was IN LOVE with this game, and when I heard in October the remake was coming out, I was so freaking excited.
So excited, that I had a craving to play TTYD.
But… I already played the game twice. And it was getting overall pretty boring. Well, then how do I fill this craving which is Paper Mario?
Then, when on a break from school, out of curiosity and boredom, I scroll through yt, and my favourite channel did a playthrough of this “Bug Fables” game about 3 years ago. So, I click on it…

~The Also Really Long Explanation of my Experience~
At first, it looked kinda mediocre, but a few episodes into the playthrough, it started to get interesting. Snakemouth Den, the first dungeon, was filled with really cool secrets, both in the story and the gameplay. After I had watched this person do the whole first chapter, I had this sudden thought. I could purchase that game. Like, right now.
So I did.
Oh my goodness, it was LIFE CHANGING. I couldn't put this game down, especially once I finished chapter 4. It had everything Paper Mario had to offer, but with a more serious and multi-layered storyline. Fun main characters who actually spoke and had a significant role to play in the story. Cool new battle mechanics. Sure, the art wasn't as great as a triple A game, as to be expected, and the music wasn't all that crisp, as to be expected, and the overworked physics were a little..unpolished, as to somewhat be expected. But what it exceeds at makes up way for its mistakes, times 10. I've played this game… uh… 8-10 times now? At least 4 times I beat the main story. Despite being one of those games that is really only meant to be played once or twice, there's something so charming about it that makes me come back to it time and time again. Definitely a game I will never forget about, and try to make it tradition to play it once at least every couple of years for hopefully the rest of my life.

If ya have $30 that you have nothing better to use on, and you like Paper Mario or similar games, maybe you should give it a try. I want more people to talk about this game with me haha.

Sorry for the huge rant btw.

Oh boy, time to talk about my most favorite games, yippee

I play Rain World, a lot (seriously, i somehow managed to get 800+ hours in this game…??) because of the silly goofy moments that happen, plus its just really fun.
I got it in November or December of 2022 (can’t remember which month) because a favorite content creator of mine made videos of it and i was interested in it.
The procedural animation and creature AI makes for both funny and annoying moments, and exploring the different regions is fun.
Especially with the recently added expedition mode, its pretty hard to run out of stuff to do.

Hollow Knight, i play it because well, i like bugs and other creepy crawlers.
I kept hearing about the game and decided to get it in December of 2023, the characters, story, and art style really did intrigue me.
I think this game really inspired me for my own characters too, this game definitely has a special place in my heart.

And now both Portal games, i play them because i like puzzles and science, and whats better than those two things? Them combined!
I think i got the games a bit after the switch release, not sure exactly when but i unfortunately dont have a computer and i had to wait to play this game.
And watching the crazy speedruns is fun, i love seeing people break reality because this game and its engine somehow has so many glitches.

I've heard from you and C0D3N00B that Bug Fables is a really great game, and I'd try it, but there's one problem:
I'm unemployed for now (I applied to Dunkin' though) and am saving for a new DSi. (the Gyakuten Kenji Premium Edition) Bug Fables costs SO MUCH compared to other indie games that it becomes a big problem.

Plus, I just bought the new Ace Attorney collection and people keep recommending me the other bug-based indie game (Hollow Knight).
