Also, the xeon is a workstation grade xeon. Basically equivalent to the i7-4960x

Uhh, the dell workstation was on sale, and i, uhh, it's good for 200+ firefox tabs (im not even kidding but more seriously i run inkscape and paint.net on it). plus there is a whole youtube channel dedicated to chinese X99 motherboards and cheap xeons

UPDATE! I have finally moved into the 21st century with a sensible display device, that being a 1920x1080 22" TN LCD monitor (that will be run at 60Hz). This monitor will be used across all of my four computers. three computers. The Windows 98 machine does not like my widescreen monitor.

Unfortunately, for some reason, I can't switch to 1920x1080 at 32 bit color on my Windows 98 machine, which doesn't really make sense to me, because its 8 MiB of video RAM should just barely be enough, right? (Unless it's 8 MB (8,000,000 B), which would just be stupid…) 1920x1080 at 16 bit color works just fine, though,
