I've been here for nearly two years, on an old account.


Originally, the account was made for school (But not with a class) . Overtime, I made new friends, got into many fandoms, and so, so much more.


But now…

So many of us are being banned for no reason, and studios are being deleted for no reason.

We just wanna have a hangout.

Well, you're right that this isn't what Scratch used to be. In fact, we never had any studios before for chatting - so it comes across as a bit odd when chatters ask for the good ol' days when that suggestion means razing all chat studios.

We were being pretty generous with chat studios given the COVID pandemic. But when the studios that do nothing to promote the website's core value of programming and start to delve into topics that aren't appropriate, or comments get flame-y, or when they redirect to other studios that aren't appropriate, that's starts to become a problem. It's starts to not make sense to keep studios that turn out to be a lag problem (caused when users keep refreshing the page constantly) and a moderation time-sink. We are a non-profit and rely on donation after all, and there's a whole bunch of students and educators here would rather see the money being redirected to making the site faster.

Hopefully this makes sense. And hopefully this can persuade you to rethink your activity on the website go back to the good ol' days when you spent your free time programming.
