uh oh get ready for namesnipe projects
No support. This would turn out with the same fate as showing gender on profiles saw.
There would be too many attack helicopter projects. I would literally name any random project “griffpatch” in five seconds after release and get ninja'd.

No support because
1. You can rename your project from like DOge the ball to DOdgeballgame mysteryblah and that would change the custom URL so the url's will change and then they won't work.
2. Toggling them would not work either because then links would not work.
3. Why links working is important, it that say I am like Check out this project scratch.mit.edu/RiverDay/Calling-Everyone and Recently I had changed it to scratch.mit.edu/RiverDay/Blah-Help-PEOPLE people (Including me would get frustrated at changing them.
4. I don't see how this would make it easier EXCEPT to see what it is called in the link so therefore I no support.

It could work like renaming two sprites the same way: /car-racing and /car-racing-2

I like having the numbers; it gives a clear chronological sense when looking at the URL. You can easily find out the general date of a project just from the URL alone if you were to remember a lot of numbers.

semi-support, the project id SHOULD be shown, and also is useful because numbers = complicated, maybe pasting scratch.mit.edu/project-name-here will redirect to scratch.mit.edu/project-name-here/100, or maybe the project id is shown below the loves and favs

What about if you named your project “projects”, “users”, “discuss”… The link would have to be:
https://scratch.mit.edu/projects -> the page where projects are hosted on
https://scratch.mit.edu/users -> the page where users are hosted on
https://scratch.mit.edu/discuss -> the forums

Why blacklist a project name, just because of a fault in the system

No support, links could be taken, and errors will occur. This doesn't feel like a good thing.

What about https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/92914111/, https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/42672270/, https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/158109629/…?

What if I'd genuinely name a project educators/students, it would trigger it…

what if it just lets you send links like https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/322002554/plake/ so people know what the project is by looking at the link, so basically ignore text after the id.
That's actually a pretty good idea, kind of like the way Roblox does it. And it couldn't have inappropriate content since the filterbot exists, and you could do it with normal text anyways.
The only problem would be clickbait like https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/1581299/griffpatchs-next-project-working-not-clickbait/ but again, you can do that with a normal link and text with it.

Just let people create their OWN links. If the link is taken, it'll say so. Either that or just number the links if there are two with the same name. (like nano-gets-grounded, nano-gets-grounded2, nano-gets-grounded3, etc.)

Support, it would be easier to find projects, if I want to go to a certain project I could just type in scratch.mit.edu/griffpatch/taco-burp instead of having to search for it. I would probably prefer for it to show the username in the link because then you wouldn’t have to worry about duplicates and other
