Code Scratch in Text
Scratch is a great visual programming engine. The visuals are a good thing in every way, but, I personally would like another option to code via text, or convert the code into text. I want to be able to use more keyboard more than my mouse / touch pad. I'm not sure if this is the best suggestion, but I'd love to see it!

What makes Scratch, Scratch is that you don't type. Take that away, and you have a mediocre programming language with very limited applications, and the inability to interact with other code.

Hmmm. Although it will almost certainly never happen, seeing as the whole point of Scratch is that it's an easy language anyone can use, I wouldn't mind if there was some way to go from using blocks to actually typing things. Scratch is easy, but (for me at least) other “easy” text-based programming languages are just confusing. If Scratch is supposed to introduce people to programming, then wouldn't it make sense to introduce people to other, more advanced ones?

I support!
It should be an option, and always turned off by default.
It could just replace the scripts area with text of the blocks.

Instead of suggesting this try out some programming languages like: JavaScript, Java, Python, Ruby, Lua, C++, CC, Swift (Not out yet), and other languages.
The reason that scratch isn't made for text is it was meant for ALL ages.

No support, as per most of the above.
I have made ApuC exactly for this purpose, you can try it if you want: http://scratch.mit.edu/discuss/topic/50212/
I'm thinking about ApuC 2.0 with OOP…

Code Scratch in Text
Please add an option to view the text based code of our projects. So it would be easier to understand text based languages and move on to Javascript, Python, etc. This feature is there in Tynker.com/ide.

tosh, tosh, tosh!
It's the all new unofficial Scratch text compiler. Try it!

No support. Besides that it can get new Scratchers confused about what text mode is, Scratch was only designed as a graphical language, not a language that also has a textual input or even as an afterthought. Mitch's vision is to help people learn to program, The most easiest way he found out was drag and drop. That's Scratch, and I don't think the ST wants to change that vision. People who want to code higher can use other sites to learn higher coding skills, like Codecademy.

Please add an option to edit the text based code of our projects. So people can use blocks or text. This feature is there in Tynker. No support. Officially adding text would confuse New Scratchers further.
If you really want to harness the power of Scratch (which wasn't really the point of Scratch) while using the efficiency of text, use tosh.

Support for viewing text code, but not coding with it. Would the text language be Javascript? On every block, some sort of button to see the text code? Perhaps still inside the shape of the block? It would look like what is shown below for a looks block.

Support for an arrow next to every block. Click it to see the text code, and click it again to make it go away.

*cough*Please don't necropost; yes this is the suggestions forum, but only necropost if it's a duplicate and you have something to say. Thanks!

No support, Scratch is designed for all ages; just branch off from Scratch if you feel the time is right.
