Revert to the Old Muting System

Congratulations, Scratch Team! You figured out how to make the muting system worse! XD

Literally, now, if you comment something that won't send because the filter doesn't like it, you get muted! False mutes were always a thing, but now you can get muted for literally talking about the subset of a protein, because it thinks it's “unmoderated chat”! LOL! Like I literally did that and I just got muted for 20 minutes. Like WHAT?!

Oh, and also, for saying the name of an unmoderated chat site, even accidentally, you get muted? I hate to break it to you, but nowhere in the Terms of Use or the Community Guidelines does it say you can't reference an unmoderated chat site. Like the most well-known one is even a word that was used in the “I Have A Dream” speech! Someone might not even try to refer to it, and there's nothing against it anyways! The Community Guidelines say no links to unmoderated chat. So, you can't post the URL, but you should be able to say the name. XD

Like do you really think that this will make people happier about the muting system when it just increases false mutings? Like come on! The old one was still terrible, but not as bad as this!

Oh, and the filter is now more sensitive too! Literally, one person got muted for adding “>” to an emoticon for the “Ninjas Assemble” studio thing. Like WHAT?! Seriously, this is ridiculous…

So, basically, please revert to the old system, and please reform it to be better if you can, but don't automatically mute based on the filter, and please think about reducing some of the restrictions which there is nothing against in the Terms of Use or the Community Guidelines.

I'm a programmer, ethical hacker, and space nerd!

Revert to the Old Muting System

ST might have a huge list of things that the filter bot filters.
Also the part of the CGs that say:

CGs wrote:

basically seems to have been extended to everything relating to moderated chat sites(like twitter handles(?(sorry, I don't use twitter, so I don't know what they're called)), the simple mention of Discord, and everything else like that).

/hj is the worst tone indicator. It's confusing and ambiguous. I hate it. The point of tone indicators is to indicate tone, or the way that a piece of text should be read, but what does “half joking” mean? Do you just wake up in the morning and think “wow, I really have something I want to talk about seriously but also kinda not, IDK you decide.” It's useless. I hate it. It just provokes a deep rooted anger within me whenever I see it. People just comment /hj as if it makes any sense. It doesn't. Oh wow, it's a tone indicator that's has a relative meaning, how useful, I'll use it in every comment I post. NO. STOP IT. You're a tone indicator, you have only one job, and yet you sit there doing nothing apart angering me.

^^^ (there's more below)
This one is useful because it tells you that this signature is fully 100% serious. (/srs) Who would've thought that tone indicators needed to tell you something about the piece of text they're attached to? /s

I'm serious, I'm not even going to put multiple (/hj)s a the end of my signature as to mock the previous paragraph for not getting the point of something(like previous version of my signature). /srs

I don't think the old muting system should be removed, but it needs to be drastically changed. For one, each day you should have three “passes” where you don't get muted even if a bad word is there. You can then actually look at what's wrong. If it gets continuously posted, then it can initiate the current system.

Yeah, it's a procedure for the best.

The ToU holds all of the legal agreements for the website.

There is likely a bad word/reference that you need to dig upon.

They do have a list, and they do say that, but it says links. Simply mentioning something is not included in there. It could be someone another person knows in real life that they're just trying to refer to a conversation or something, or even just using the word! Because it is an actual word. And now, someone gets muted for saying it!

Well, what if someone has a comment that the filter accidentally thinks is bad, but really is fine and they are just trying to figure out what the filter doesn't like about it? In my opinion, muting should be manually done based on information reported to the ST about what a person was trying to say.

This kinda reminds me of the fact that you can't mention browser extensions on the site, but they don't mention anything about them anywhere in the CGs.

But, mentions to unmoded sites are technically still against the CGs:

If someone accidentally says something, not knowing it's an unmoderated chat name, the person shouldn't get muted. It's all in context. And also, saying “>XD” is not bad. LOL! And there should be restrictions, but in no way is saying “amino acid” bad, yet Scratch still censors it.

Yeah, I can see that, but the ST should at least say that. They said about the extensions since they can contain malware. Saying the name of a website which is also a normal word is not going to give malware and can't provide a method of unmoderated chat. Only saying your username or “tag” or providing a direct link to a server can do that with this specific website we are referring to.

It shouldn't be reverted, but the bad word detector has soo many false positives that one shouldn't be muted every time they say a bad word.

Please be constructive and explain why.

I remember sending some of my friends a screenshot of the initial announcement for the new filtering system with a caption like “I have a gut feeling that people will quickly grow to hate this update and I don't know why.” I think my gut needs a promotion lol

I don't believe it should be reverted but not every * single time it mutes you for saying something incorrectly.

Thank you for your time.
