Why does the _:)_ emoji look sad?

So you know how you can create different cat emojis from Scratch using _:D_ or _:P_? (not in forums though)(I've bolded them so they don't become actual emojis) But for some reason, the _:)_ cat looks sad for some reason. Does anybody know why the ST chose that?

Even though it looks sad, it is still used when expressing happiness.

Yes, I saw that wiki page… just curious why the ST hasn't “cheered” it up a bit

Up close he looks kinda like a cross between he's blushing and he's about to throw up.

The _:)_ cat looks like it's trying to smile but it really doesn't want you and the _:D_ one looks creepy so I recommend resorting to the _P:_ one.
