9/10 new accounts being made nowadays just go straight to the forums to abuse this crapy filter!
I say Account Creation should be disabled until the filter is fixed. And itch cat should be added to costume library too.

I guess, I somewhat support. However, this would impact a lot of people including schools who want to get into scratch. Howabout school accounts can go pass?

Sure, why not! Anyways, most people just use scratch in schools without making an account.

Not me, sorry, some accounts are made to do other things too. Where is your source for this? Online statistics? ST post? If so, provide a link.

Exactly. The forums aren't used enough for the entire account creation progress to be disabled just for it. I think maybe if we were to do anything about this, we should be restricting what new scratchers can do on the forums rather than restricting the ability for new scratchers to exist.

This is an overreaction, there is no need. It's not like they made topics with pages full of profanities.

Basically, people should not be able to join Scratch until an old, relatively little used (not many people go to the forums) piece of software that no one apparently feels like updating is fixed on a minor thing, just because some random person had some random whim?

No, this is such a bad idea, the best option would to be to not let people post on the forums until it's fixed.

That's a ridiculously high estimate. I've seen a whopping total of two accounts spamming in the last month of activity on this forum. They're taken care of really quickly and barely do any harm to anyone.

You were inactive yesterday during the so-called attacks of March 19.
It was a lot worse than people that were inactive said.

We don't need to suspend making an account due to a slight issue on the forums. 99% of accounts that are created do not spam and are instead just people who want to give scratch a go!

Whilst the forum filter needs work, at least the forums are heavily moderated, so bad posts get taken down quickly. As always, please use the report button for any posts that go against the community guidelines

The forum filter will probably never get fixed, so you're basically suggesting removing the ability to create new accounts.

While the stuff that went down today was pretty bad, is it really worthy of a suggestion directory? It's died down and pretty much seems to be over now by this point

This is just beyond exaggeration.
The title makes it looks like an incident, such as a raid of hundreds of people, or a nasty hacking incident.
When it’s just 1 edgy kid that bypassed the filter in the simplest way.

Actually, I was active. In fact I may have been the first person to spot these “attacks”, except I didn't report it publicly because I know better than to feed a random troll. They were not at all a big deal.
