You have a point. Every browser has a UA String. The user agent string consists of the browser and OS info along the the CPU architecture and other stuff. It does not contain any browser history. But, all I am suggesting is that the forum detects the correct browser. According to the above example, the browser/os info detection is wrong. That makes the feature entirely useless (except for chrome users). If the info is inaccurate, it would not be useful.
All the ST would need to do is rename chrome, to chromium-base.
As chrome and edge are both based off of chromium.
That would create even more confusion. It should show the exact browser (Example Chrome 90.0.0.0 or Edge 90.0.0.0)

The globe button gets the browser from the user's user agent.
A user agent contains stuff like your OS, browser, etc. On most Chromium browsers, like Brave, however, it doesn't have a modified user agent, so it comes like this:
Windows ME, Chrome INSERT-CHROMIUM-VERSION-HERE, No Flash version detected
so it uses that instead. However, on browsers that have modified user agents, like Opera, use their own name instead:
Windows ME, Opera INSERT-OPERA-VERSION-HERE, No Flash version detected
As you can see, Agent1 still contains Chrome in it, and not Chromium, meaning that the globe can't diffrentiate between Chrome and Chromium/the actual browser.
Please don't tell me you're actually using Windows ME….

If it is possible and easy to do so, then I support this. It isn't necessary, but it would be nice and accurate.

Do Microsoft Edge and Chrome work differently enough to warrant this?

I believe that there are some differences between the two, and even if they don't work all that differently then I still don't see why we shouldn't add this.

My browser / operating system: ChromeOS 13421.102.0, Chrome 86.0.4240.199, No Flash version detected
This is correct other than the Flash detection. (maybe?) I can still use Flash online. Maybe this detects if you manually installed Flash?

Also, no hate please. Yes I use a Chromebook to do scratch, yes it sucks, but this is currently my only personal computer (a school managed Chromebook).

If you use flash online, it is not necessarily “installed” on your computer. Also, flash detection is of no use since Scratch does not need Flash anymore, it runs on the newer HTML5.

Chrome and Edge are very different, if you are on Windows, Edge is preinstalled. Try opening it and compare it with Chrome. As an example, in this topic I had to create separate tutorials for Chrome and Edge and look at how different they are!

Thanks for making me boot up Microsoft Edge on purpose for the first time in years. The UI seems nice but everything takes way too long to load and it took even longer to start, and it's all laggy, when you type and it sometimes doesn't respond but at least I can test this and never need to open it again, except when I accidentally press F1: My browser / operating system: Windows NT 10.0, Chrome 89.0.4389.82, No Flash version detected

Well, if that happens I suppose a ton of other browsers like Opera (funny how it prides itself in being secure when Facebook clearly has their fingers in its pudding) and Brave (I don't know if this actually exists or if it's some practical joke) are also “Chrome”.

Support, it doesn't make sense - edge isn't chrome, even if it's based on chromnium.
I'm booting up edge again… whoa.
My browser / operating system: Windows 3.1, Chrome 89.0.4389.90, Flash ∞.2 (release -5)
will make people make you troubleshoot chrome, do this, do that but it doesn't help. This
My browser / operating system: Windows 3.1, Edge 89.0.774.54, No Flash version detected
doesn't.

I mean, Opera's been owned since 2016 by an investment group called Golden Brick Capital Private Equity Fund I Limited Partnership, which doesn't exactly help their case lol

Not that Flash detection works anymore in the first place since it relies on loading a Flash program in order to detect the version of Flash (which Chrome and Firefox removed support for back in December 2020)

Firstly, Welcome! That lag is probably because you are running it with Chrome (the biggest memory hog known to mankind). Could you maybe try closing Chrome and then checking.

Also, about Opera and Brave. I don't think many people actually use it. On the other hand, Edge is installed on more than a billion computers all over the world. That's WAY more than Chrome! (Now that I have come to think of it, it might probably be because Edge is a bloatware and cannot be uninstalled!)

Oh my god, totally. Every time I have to boot up Chrome because some website I needed to use for school was “only designed to run in Chrome” (as if we've reverted back to the nineties or something) I feel physical pain for my computer. Maybe this varies from computer to computer but it happens every time for me. Sometimes a website is lagging on Firefox so I think “Hmm, I've heard people say that Chrome is faster, I guess I'll give it another chance” and then Chrome is even worse.

Task Manager says that Edge was taking up way more RAM and CPU usage than Chrome. I never like having more than five tabs open so that's probably why.
