Minecraft is a massively popular 3D, procedurally generated sandbox game created by Mojang Studios. The game released in 2011 after 2 years in development, and has been updated ever since.

This is the topic to discuss all topics related to Minecraft. Whether that be survival, creative, hardcore, servers, mods etc. If it's Minecraft, it fits here! You can also discuss specific topics on specialised Minecraft Topics, which have been compiled into this list,

This is the second main Minecraft Topic, succeeding the first one made in May 2013 (Java Edition 1.5.2). This topic was made on March 2021 (Java Edition 1.16.5)

6/8/21 - Minecraft 1.17, the first part of the Caves and Cliffs Update has released for Java and Bedrock platforms!
7/8/21 - Minecraft 1.17.1 has released (changelog)
11/30/21 - Minecraft 1.18, the second part of the Caves and Cliffs Update has released for Java and Bedrock platforms

Here's a brief overview (not exhaustive but regardless)

1.12: advancements and concrete
1.13: ocean biomes and phantoms
1.14: new village mechanics, employment, pillagers, raids
1.15: according to all known laws of aviation
1.16: nether biomes, bartering, ruined portals, chains

You can probably compile a list of every feature by searching the wiki.

It took 7 years to get to 500 on the old one, so I'd say probably 3/4 of that.

parrots, concrete, colored beds, and other things
a lotta ocean stuff, such as fish mobs, coral reefs, turtles, and other things
update to villages, which includes updated villages, village raids, pandas, multiple useful utility blocks, and more

complete update to nether, adding things like netherite, piglins (sorta like nether villagers), 2 new wood types, and a bunch of other things
and an upcoming cave update, adding copper, amethyst, improved mountains, an increased height limit, axolotls, and more. but this one isn't out yet so

Is it normal for me to mine more than I build? Like, on the server I'm playing on right now, I'm living in a half-finished tower that looks like a fancy box, and I have over half a stack of diamond blocks. The last server I played on, I had over a stack of diamond blocks, and I built a store, a creeper farm, a nice-looking (but small) house, a cactus farm, and a bee farm. What's you guy's build to mine ratio?

And there is also 1.17, which is currently in development.
1.17: higher/deeper building, cave biomes, bigger mountains, a new ore (copper), bundles
