I saw in someone's signature that rickrolling is somehow breaking the rules, is this true? if so which rule is it breaking?

Unless they're an official Scratcher, I don't think you should rely on that. I haven't heard anything about it being banned, and I see lots of projects with rick-rolls in them.

Rickrolls aren't banned. If there is an exception to that, feel free to tell me about it and I'll do my research into it

No, Rick-rolls are fine as they are harmless.
Maybe it was because the rick roll led to YouTube and not discuss YouTube, which isn’t allowed?

I'm pretty sure rickrolling is actually heavily discouraged as it counts as “Tricking the Community” in some stupid way. I know it's allowed on the best day of the year, though.

Rickrolling is controversial. In some ways, people make ‘platformers’ that then rickroll you, but just linking it in your signature should be fine. I think that the signature in question linked a rickroll, but used a link shortener so A: it didn't convert to discuss youtube, and B: link shorteners are not allowed. However, they are completely allowed on april fools day.

Tricking the community means pretending to be someone you aren't or something like that, not playing an innocent prank.

I remember that there was a post by Paddle2See that said they were allowed but should be saved for April fools day. They are allowed.

Edit: Here is the link to that post

Yes. It's allowed. As it's resolved, I'll report to close this - that way, we can maybe get an official answer!

According to this post, rickrolls are completely and absolutely banned, and your account will be deleted immediately if you are found rickrolling anyone.

I'm sorry, I just couldn't resist… although I doubt anyone will actually fall for that one.

Edit: in all seriousness, I don't see why they'd be banned; at most, a rickroll is a tiny annoyance.

Here's a source that's more recent and supports my claim that rickrolls are allowed except when pretending to be constructive. Might make the post above break the rules.

Anyway, thanks for linking that

Yeah, I used to take a harder line on them. My current feeling is more along the lines of what @Za-Chary says. If it's in a signature and somebody clicks on it - then they've learned a valuable lesson about checking links before traveling them. On the other hand, if somebody jumps into a conversation on a topic and pretends to have an answer, but it's the dreaded RR - that's pretty annoying and likely derailing as well. I would probably take action in the second case. I might in the first case - but it's less likely.
